here we are again,a summer sport,playing nearly half our home games in feb,march and april and now we have one home from now till the end of july[lucky the leeds game is at home.just because the nancy boys want their precious pitch ready for the new football season.can you imagine how it would be if they ever owned the stadium.

fair enough, it just seems a bit pointless as we know it's a dual use facility and that the pitch gets relaid at roughly the same time every year.

Whats the problem, if the pitch needs sorting, then June/July is the time to do it.

Technically we are only sacrificing one game and have 2 home games back to back in July?august

and, in an ideal world, it would mean we've got a great surface to play our playoff games on, the fact we'll not be bothering the playoffs isn't the groundstaffs fault.

That and the fact our last 3 games have all been in Hull

A bit O/T but we haven't had a Friday home game since 22 April and a Friday night home game since 8 April, which is a bit strange for a club which allegedly plays its home fixtures on a Friday night.

This is silly, Huddersfield are going through the same thing at the moment.

We play on a dual sport pitch, whoever owns the stadium it won't change that the pitch gets an all year round battering and needs this essential work on a yearly basis. Doing it in winter would defeat the object surely as it needs the summer weather to work properly!!

Very well said Karen. It's not like it has just been sprung on us either, we have know about it since the season began.

Does it also mean we won't play a game when its bare? Players hated it, iirc. Think Yeamo lost the skin from his knee in '09.

Suppose it depends on the weather to a degree. But 3-4 weeks off the pitch will give it the best chance to grow adequately.

Think that was down to the Challenge Cup, which has a bigger break between the rounds this year.
