| Does this have any impact on the work being undertaken at the Boulevard?

| My memory is not great but I thought the Boulevard was being developed into a new School / Academy?
I understand that some of the new building will proceed but wondered if this effects the plans (if there are any) of developing the old ground?

| I thought due to the cuts any BSF projects not already started were mothballed, hence why the Boulevard is getting flattened before they decide what they will do ?

| The council led everyone to believe that the Academy funding for the Boulevard was in place, they turned down over £2m from our club and the NHs to take it over and build a community facaility and a base for the club training in the heart of the community. they intended to bulldoze the place next February but then all of a sudden bull dozers moved in at short notice and its gone along with the threepennies and any chance of our junior teams playing there. I can see it being left empty as a piece of empty land for years.
I might be wrong but I think our council will be pushed to get the money to build the school at all from scratch now! Now we also hear that the Gateway funding that would be used to bulldoze houses around the development and relocate the citizens living there has been frozen too. It is all strating to look like a monumental Council C up to me!

Central govt C up Wilf. Thing is, without the Housing being refurbed in that area, its a good job the club didn't move in. Airlie/Albelmarle street are becoming no go areas with huge crime problems. Keeping the new facility secure would have been a huge expense.
The stadium site will become a dumping ground for all the neighbourhood garbage as the area around deteriorates into a ghetto.

| Sorry i stand corrected on the funding stuff but I just think that the Council should have let us get on with it, the surrounding infrastructure would have been our problem but at least the place would have been used, I just think it was a case of more haste less speed! We'll have to see what happens

| I see the Dobbins have got their money fron the NHS for the East Stand extension / health centre.
Were we not meant to be getting £700K for our project before the council pulled the rug from under us!

BSF, a fundermentally good idea has been a well and truly screwed nationwide by the incompertence of a few - particarly those in charge of distrubution - and that was before the recession. Its not only had a severe impact on school building in this country, which I don't think is too dramatic to say will definetly have a negative on childrens education in this country but said incompertance also cost thousands of construction jobs in a recession where school building projects would kinda of been handy.
Then the Tories came in and finished it off by putting severe cuts in place on the one area of public spending that should surely be protected, eduction.

You keep spouting the theory that BSF was a great idea, it was ridiculous, from the specifications of the buildings to, as you mention, the supply chain, to the actual amounts of money they were prepared to pay.
What cuts IN education have there been, are teacher numbers going down, class sizes going up? - no.

Spot on Standee. As usual the Tories get blamed for being sensible with money.

Wait and see what the white paper says first. There will be cuts in Education but they could be ofset by cuts to Universities. There will definately be changes.

| Well I'm pretty disenchanted with em really, Just been told that my Daughters University Fees will be doubling if not trebling in 2012, a lot of her pals voted for the Lib/Dems because of their stance on tuition fees and they are pretty dienchanted, so I ain't that impressed particulary with the Lib/Dems, nationally or locally!

So why are they moaning?? The Lib/Dems had no chance of forming a government in any case. So they got what they voted for.

Every vote I've ever cast has been a dustbin vote - always lived in seats which were very safe for one party or another. Still, it keeps extremists from holding a balance of power, I suppose.
I think they'd prefer 'junior partners' to puppets.
Still don't think Wilf's daughter got what she voted for - but who does? Disenchantment with politics is the norm.

Just in the interests of balance, Labour promised they wouldn't introduce tuition fees prior to their election in 1997. Within 6 months tuition fees were introduced.

Yes I quite agree but you should still vote for what you believe in and if they had got in they would have put them up too, maybe not as much but they would have still increased them.
Some students voted Lib/Dem because in a democracy when a party whoever they are have policies that you agree with or indeed believe in and that effect you personally, you vote for them, thats what its all about, that choice is what people fought for in the past. Perhaps it was a 'wasted' vote but then the party that had advocated no fee increases, and who had few other real keystone policies suddenly found themselves in a position to influence what was happeneing and they capitulate with a whimper.
As For Mr Gekko well thank goodness most folks are not like you believing that there should not be just two parties forever and actually believe that voting for what you believe in rather than following a popularist option that is 'mainstream' like sheep, is what our democratic right is all about, I'd always vote for what I believe in, not who I think has a chance of winning, even if mine is a dustbin vote.
