| Does anyone know if Rich's 'season ending' broken arm is just that.....or will it carry on into the playoffs too. I know its on a previous break, and had been plated and screwed before.....But ya never know with Whiting....He seems to be a real 'comeback kid'. After the broken leg at Quinns, I actually thought his playing days were over.....he has proved to be a quick healer.....but how quick ?
I noticed how he was missed on Friday night. His forward thinking style of play might've tightened our defence up a bit!

The club said eight weeks to heal which means well into the playoffs. Realistically there is no chance he'll play again this season.

| Listening to what agar had to say in the prematch reports on the radio on Friday, a lot of it depends on what they do to prevent the injury from happening again. He said that the area where the plate & screws are is weakened. Richard's time on the sidelines will depend on whether the medical advice recommends removing the metalwork to prevent the weak spot in the future.

| Oh, it's season ending alright. My old man went to watch training last week and spoke to Rich himself. Rich said the fracture in his arm suffered in the Rovers game will take 12 weeks to heal. Furthermore, as we all know Rich has a metal plate and 6 screws in the same arm from a previous break. Rich himself said that once this latest fracture has healed, he will have an operation to remove the plate and 6 screws. This effectively leaves him with 6 more fractures in his arm which then need time to heal themselves. Unfortunately the op cannot be carried out until this latest fractures heals so all in all Rich suggested his absence could be anything up to 6 months. All we can hope is that his arm, after all of this is as strong as it was.

| Bummer................We need players (thinking players) like Rich on the park. Ah well, I'm sure he'll be ready and raring to go next season. A good thing with Whiting though......He doesnt seem to shy away from the game with a confidence loss. A real tough kid!
Get well soon Rich

I suppose it's best that he suffered the injury at this time of the year rather than at the beginning.
He's got plenty of time to let the operation heal properly and also to begin his rehab for next year.
I think most would agree this is the year Richard Whiting has proved beyond all reasonable doubt that he's an absolute invaluable member of the team/squad.
Get well soon Rich.

| Spoke to Rich after Fridays game he said 6-8 weeks for the crack to heal then MRI scan screw and plate out then hopefully 12 weeks and back to full fittness.
So if he heals quickly and its 6 weeks will the club take a gamble and use him in the play offs?

I would hope they would take no gambles with Rich and do what is best for his long term health. He is an important player for us and I would hope everyone looks at the big picture.

| Really hope he gets the plate removed, he has plenty of time to heal in the off season and will e back fit and healthy in plenty of time for pre season.

Maybe a stupid question, but can you have an MRI scan with a plate in your arm? Or do you mean MRI once the plate's out?

If you do an MRI scan on someone who has a plate in their arm, the arm will explode and the plate will emit an EMP which will take out all electrical items within a 200 metre radius
