| Anyone on here play rugby at junior school, between 1971 and 1975 ?
I used to play for Wivern JHS and during the 74/75 season we were beaten once, by St John Fisher and beat Southcoates in the final at the old Craven Park.
Any of our old adversories on here ?
Seem to remember a giant of a lad from Southcoates, think his name was Tattersfield.

| Shaw Park had a great team in 1977 with Bateman and Knudson , then they had a reasonable team in 1979 with Edwards , Cox and Bateman , then they had a cracking team in 1981 with Fowlie , Cox and others I can't remember.
Wilberforce and Ings were always a handful and I remember Andy Thomson from St Andrews and he was the only one to make it pro.
Rev John Leeman was the coach at Shaw Park

| thats after i left junior school. think Wivern didn`t bother playing rugby anymore after 1975. teachers who taught us left. Shakespeare were a hard team, very physical, bit dirty.
i was always surprised 1 or 2 of our lads didn`t go further.
I played for rovers colts (trained in my hull shirt) but bust my knee badly when i was 17 and stopped playing. could of been a contender lol

hi, didnt play school rugby then, but in 76 i started playing for newland youth club. i was u 14s and there was a Paul Tattersfield playing for our u16s at that time. so he would have been about 15 in 1976. he was a prop forward and huge for his age. he represented hull, yorkshire and england i think. sometimes see him about - hes an electrician.
we had a good team - shaun patrick, ian patrick, wayne proctor and paul welham all went on to play for FC. our toughest opponents were Ainthorpe, coached by ex pro Bri Hambling. they had a player that was one for the future - Lee Crooks

They all played for the A team and managed to get into the Guinness Book of Record for being unbeaten..Shaun Patrick was the only one who played regular first team, a certain match (unable to recall which) he was being watched by the GB coach to tour Austalia during the match he did his knee Nobby Noble got the gig..When Ian & Shaun both played amaetur (12 months difference in age) the general feeling was Ian had more ability, however it did not work out that way as Shaun had more passion.
If I recal Des Harrison was in your team and went to Rovers ? also Andy Dannatt? coach the legendary Brian Holwell
