Just a quick one for any of you out there who may be a bit more savvy when it comes to these types of things.

I've just moved house and will need Sky & Broadband installing.

Now I'm sure like many other people on here the fact we don't have a BT line rules us out of the Sky offer in which it comes as a package with broadband.

So we basically have to have a KC phone line & pay for that, KC broadband and pay for that, then Sky and pay for that.

This is the only way I've done it previously, anyone know of any cheaper options or good offers???

We got our Sky+ box half price because they explained to us on the phone we couldn't take up their broadband, mobile, sky offer because of our location and that was the alternative.

And you live???

My neighbour always rings to cancel Sky sports after the rugby season and then rings again to get it re-installed for February and when they hear he is going to cancel, he usually gets a real good deal, like Sky sports for half price for 3 months or something like that.

I tried it once, only I must have got the hardest guy in bloody Scotland on the phone who wouldn't budge so no discount for me

Sky HD is on offer at the mo i believe

Yes they advertise as needing to take out Movies to get a free HD box but if you have the full sports package you don't need to take out Movies to get it.

Sure is Karl. I get it installed on Saturday. I have Sky Sports World at the which is a premium package equivalent to Sky Movies so the upgrade costs me just £30, plus an extra tenner or so a month.

It would be ideal to get Sky Broadband too, but there's no chance of course.

Dont get a kc line installed...just get a mobile contract with unlimited internet and stick ur sim card in a wireless internet dongle.Use ur mobile as a home phone instead.

Depends what you are going to be doing on the internet. If they are going to be downloading a fair bit then a sim card is not the way to go.

Mobile internet is dogturd. I used a dongle for a while and it was bloody useless. Slow, unreliable and expensive. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone - unless I really disliked them.

With all the iPhone etc. flooding the market the 3G broadband service is only going to get worse too!

It wont be handsets that affect as most nnow have wifi
The main issue is dongles. As already mentioned dongles are a waste of time anyways.

Just a word of advice with mobile companies and contracts... 'Unlimited' tends to mean nothing of the sort. An 'unlimited' Internet usage, usually means 1gb per month, and charged afterwards.. 'Unlimited' texts on my plan is a max of 4000 a month... not that I'd ever go over that, but it's hardly unlimited is it!
