Excellent last night I thought, really got us on the front foot. Hope he gets plenty of gametime next season.

theres still aspects of his game that needs addressing but the signs are good.

Apart from one error, going wide and getting tackled in to touch, although he had no centre or winger to pass to, he was excellent, MOM for me.

We played our best football when he was on. When Washbrook moved to 9 in his absence we had little or no direction in the halves. Hopefully Berro can get his fitness sorted for next year they will be a good pairing with the bigger pack.

Danny proved last night the correct decision (for once) was made by the board of which players have been released from the squad in the hooking role.

All good and well, but needs to develop and improve certain aspects

Plenty of time for him to do so.

Great performance tonight from Houghton. I think he's finally established him self as a member of the 17.

He's 20. Few players are the finished article at his age.

whilst i agree it was an error as he ended up in touch, it showed the complete lack of ability in the side to read the game...Houghton did something unexpected and not the usual scoot up the middle and everyone else was just stood there and noone backed him up.

He was looking for support and no one was there. You cant see it properly on the tv but where was Tom Briscoe to support?

Danny Houghton will become an international hooker in a few years (just my prediction). Great attitude, great work rate not scared of mixing it with the big boys, learning of berro all the time.
would like to see him take on the line more and do some more spinning out of the tackle like he did last year. THE NEW LEE JACKSON ( has the tape round his head allready)

I could see it as it was right in front of me. Not one player followed his run. It happens a lot, and not just to Houghton. It seems that we expect not to break tackles or step through gaps so no one supports the man with the ball.

It might be wishful thinking but I hope Agar works on ths over the close season.

Way too slow - needs work. A straight pass from the ground rather than adjusting it before the pass would help. I think Berrigan's distribution could be faster as well.

I always liked Richard Swain's one step and pass. The defence didn't know if he was going to take the ball up or pass.

Ive played the game when i was younger and have watched a fair bit of junior rugby recently, they support the ball carrier expecting a pass.

I dont understand how a team suddenly decides they wont, or need telling to? Its a basic skill. (same as defensive linespeed etc)

We haven't done that for 3 years as our points for column knows only too well. Saints were the masters of pushing through the line as a group on the back of a fast ptb with support both sides of the ball carrier. Think we've been too lazy as a team to work for each other.
