I'd rather get someone in with experience tbh. We don't want to fall into the Newcastle trap of appointing 'messiahs' with little real basis to suggest they will be successful.

daydreaming i think.but why not,with a bit of ambition from our small minded board,would go somewhere to repairing their damaged reputation they have with the fans showing them they do give a toss that our club has become the laughing stock of superleague

Not at all, why some people feel the need to have past players coaching the club is pointless doesn't mean there going to work just because they've been at the club before. Bring someone in who has no ties with the club and won't give a f.ck if he has to drop some home grown players or stars if there been sh.t as of late. I said it before he went to Hudds sign Nathan Brown and we'd of been a different team. He's proved this with Hudds and I'm glad because as soon as he was appointed coach I said that they would be the biggest suprise package!

why go for more unproven coaches - dont say world champs because that was Bennets influence

If Agar left and we advertised the post we would get some very big names interested in us. We are a massive club.

I've never understood this obsession with Swain being a coach. Good player as he was, he's;

1) Left the game as afar as I know.
2) IIRC he also said he had no interest is coaching or anything else to do with the game post retirement from playing.
3) (and this is the big one) has no experience in coaching. so for all the people bitching about how we've appointed an inexperienced coach, just what do they think Swain is? Just because he was a good player won't make him a wonder-coach.

I agree, Neil. IIRC Swain is working in a management role in the mining business. He wanted to leave te sport and had no interest in coaching.

That's what Ive just pointed out on another thread about yet another poster going on that we need to sign Kearney as coach!

Had a message off swainy last week and was talking about him and kearney coming to coach, he said he wasn't sure kearney and himself would be the answer but had some intresting things to say
