Just seen it again, was arrested for dd early hours of Sunday morning and given fixed penalty notice.

Received a fixed on the spot fine. Will be interesting to see how the RFL deal with him. That said, Ben Cockayne had a game of 5 a side with somebodies head and the RFL did nowt so i fully expect them to pay Gansons fine for him.

The RFL have punished him by giving him the Friday night Sky game. They've then punished him some more by making him video ref the game the team he supports is playing in on Saturday.

Why on earth would the RFL get involved? It's got nothing to do with them.

Technically they could get him on a disrepute/misconduct charge. Pretty sure they won't bother though.

I think the RFL should take a stance like the NRL and stand Ganson down for a round of matches (or make him ref at Caravan Park for the rest of the season

)and let it be known why they have done so. They could also try to take a tougher line with one or two players who step over the line and bring the game into disrepute.

Ganson is one of the better refs about. (best of a bad bunch admittadly)

Why would we want to stand Ganson down when were libel to get another amateur like Terry Alibert who has no clue?

The RFL need to take a stand on this and not just sweep it under the carpet. Ganson is a "professional referee"

Standing him down for one round of games might just make him realise that he too has a responsibilty, like the players, to give Rugby League a good reputation.
Don't think giving him a fine will do any good.

Who covers in his absence?

I can cover a game on friday so long as it is in Yorkshire and any game on saturday. Cant do sunday though unless they give me the Rovers game.

He is not the only referee in the game. The RFL cannot take actionjust because he is one of the better ones, they need to set a precedent and carry it on. Would you have said different if it had been Smith or Thaler?

I'd have said the same. The RFL are know to have 6 or 7 top flight refs and very little else. Ive seen it before when bans should have been put in place but a fine has been chosen instead as a cop out as they simply couldnt officiate the number of games otherwise. These kind of issues will never be resolved satisfactory until they increase the pool of top quality refs. That will also then improve the quality thats on show.
