| My brother-in-law told me the other day that he can't get interested in RL anymore. At first I was surprised and then I thought about it.
In the Southern Hemisphere the game is all about wrestling in the tackle long enough to get your defence set... and a good kick-chase.
In the UK (and France hem hem) ours is all about scooting before the defence is set to catch the opposition on the back foot... and a good kick-chase.
In both hemispheres you could field a team of giants because there is little need for different types of physiques any more.
I'm not sure if either way is taking the game in the right direction. Was it better in the '80s when the kick-chase didn't exist and with competitive scrums with different sizes and shapes of players in the pack because of their pack role? Or is it better now?

| Nope, just bored of Hull's mis-management. Can't get interested in Hull games at the moment. I'll support them through the good and bad, but it doesn't mean i have to enjoy it tho!!

| There was a time when I'd watch anything but now I'm much more picky over what games I'll have a look at. I still watch Hull every time on the telly (if I'm not there) but the rest I can take or leave. I think you tend to get a good idea of how a game will pan out within the opening few minutes. As a result, I've not bothered with a few games this season and done something else instead.

| Thought Justin had some good idea's in the mail about changing the game to make it more attacking.
The game does lack charactors these days and players skill is down from years gone by its a differnet game but still love it
Tell your mate to get down an watch an all stars game, might not be as fit but have great skill, and good charactors

| Not bored with the game at all. Just becoming more and more uninterested with the quality of our squad, our performances and brand of rugby, our club's mismanagement at all levels and ultimately our distinct lack of ability when it comes to winning anything.
Regardless of where the game goes as far as defence, dummy half scoots etc.., as long as Hull has a quality squad and a coach who knows what he is doing, it will never bore me. Unfortunately, we are not currently in that position and I don't expect us to be anytime soon.

| We are the most boring side in SL. Wouldn't be so bad if we were doing it and being successful. Have to say that the style of our play is affecting my enjoyment of the game. I rarely watch SKY matches now other that some of the NL games they show on a Thursday which are generally more exciting.
Some of the best games I've ever seen have been low scoring with defences on top (the game against leeds a few years ago which was 0 0 at 1/2 time springs to mind), but the difference with these is that the teams have tried to play attacking rugby but been thwarted by excellent defence. We just don't seem able to play with the same speed and intensity as some of the other sides.
Have to say that some teams do seem to be adept at slowing the opposition down with their tactics in the tackle and PTB. The dobbins and shudds are the worst (or is that best?) offenders IMO with wigan not too far behind

Is player skill down or does the improved fitness of players mean that defences are alot better and people have less time on the ball?

At least we can watch a lot of good games on sky as neutrals. Imagine what other fans think on a Friday/Saturday when they settle down after work only to see that Hull are on tv !! They probably turn it off after ten minutes and watch terrestrial tv !! We really are that bad most of the time !!

Here here, i much prefer the NL games on a thursday night, more open and more skills on display instead of the percentage rugby you see in super league.

| i remember jason smith once saying that super league is too predictable, you know in your own mind who is going to win before the game has started, but in the nrl you couldnt guess because anyteam can beat anyteam,it is too close to call.

| i am bored of watching our lot struggle through every game !! , when winning we still look boring !! fed up with it all at the moment , we need some positive news for a change . sometimes it takes one crucial appointment to change things dramatically , that's what i am waiting for .
otherwise i will continue to pick & choose my games to pay £20.00 + for ,
certainly would not consider been a pass holder again for the forseeable future ( and i was one for 15 years or so ..)
speaks volumes ...

| Hate to say it...but I have watched some RU lately...premiership, super 14...and the way they shift the ball and attack puts our game in the shade.
Deep running attacking, shifting the ball from side to side at ease...makes our game very stero-type......so can agree at the mo' with comments. probably.....best described as predictable.
I was the biggest critic of RU and kicking and still am......but thats all we live on......scoring off kicks seems to be the RL way now.
Players are more like muscular robots...ball handling creativity and skill seems to be a thing of the past.
Your thoughts....

| No question. I've been a pass holder for years and a supporter since the late sixties. there have been worse times , poorer teams/squads and certainly much much worse facilities but now even with a pass I'm prepared to miss home games if there's something else to do. Previously it was sacrosanct - FC played , I was there. Now it all seems turgid , slow , lacking in enthusiasm , verve , esprit , something. The team seem like they've got lead in their boots compared to some others , everyone seems miserable. Have to say it's somehow put me off SL in general. I've recorded games and not got round to watching them , one time I'd be distraught if I found out a result before I'd watched a recorded game and that often resulted in watching games at all sorts of hours of the day/night. Not anymore. This lot have much to answer for. I hope they realise and are doing something about it.

| For me you cant beat the old style passing game, one touchline to another going through 10 pairs of hands , the line 40 yards deep.

| the only difference is fitness, players arent any less skillful. people talk about old players being able to slip the ball out - watch it back nowadays and you see some very shoddy tackling and players with little or no concept of wrestle.its part of the game. i enjoy it.
the defences used to be so slow, you had an age on the ball.this is how wigan tw@ed everyone when they were training full time before everyone else;fitness.
i was lucky enough to meet Wayne Bennett a few years ago and have a brief chat. he said the english game is so far behind because we just dont have the confidence to try things.he felt this came from an inability to do the basics right (something which has been said and mentioned about gareth ellis on the leeds board). someone slips a ball out and it goes to ground over here and everones on his back. langer was slated at warrington when he tried things, chipping through on the 3rd tackle etc. the australians arent so concerned with turning ball over as they are more confident in their fitness and ability to defend.

| The best summary I've seen of it was on the Wigan board. Words to the effect of the modern game being mainly about trying to smash down the wall, because too few know how to open the gate.
Personally, I've never been so bored watching Hull FC. The word that springs to mind is dire. I preferred the Sharks days to these, at least I went home feeling entertained and every game was different.

| Having not been able to get to games for a few seasons previous to this one, i was so fired up getting back to watching my team live.
Now at the moment it feels more like a chore. I am actually in two minds whether or not to go on saturday or stay in and watch at home.
I think the whole game has become a bit stale lately though, games just seem very one dimensional. I would expect of all the tries scored this season 75% have been from kicks (just a guess) No wonder the Aussies are looking to change things so tries from kicks score less, i think this would give more impetus to teams to try and unlock defences rather than just trying to batter them into submission.
