There are plenty but the whole system prevents them from ever getting a shot at SL.

The quicker all Aussies are fecked off back and each club can have just one overseas player, no fed trained crap, just one player who has not got a British passport the better.

Danny Houghton, Dominic Maloney, Tommy Lee, Washy, Tom Briscoe, Mike Burnett, are they really a million miles away from Berrigan, Sing, Cussack, Manu etc??

Yeah, I know they are not world beaters but if each club was forced to forge links with lower league sides and keep bringing through their own talent it would be a level field and each club would have to work harder to coach kids, not just bring in super stars!!

Hull KR, Welham, Colburn, Wheeldon, Murrell, Cockayne, Briscoe, Spaven, I'Anson, Fox, Netherton all English and would hardly disgrace themselves if you took the Overseas players out of most sides in SL.

Start with that and all of a sudden coaches will look 'South' for talent

Fair point that IMO. I had a "send the boogers back" conversation with my mate the other week. Not quite down to one overseas, but 3 would be good IMO and develop our British game

The British games is never gonna succeed. So may aswell sign more Aussies, help them bring there game on more.

Herein lies the RFL masterplan.

Keep relaxing the overseas players rules and eventually they'll all qualify for GB/England in any case. Then the aussie exiles can then beat the aussies at International level and GB will be a world force again

Im all for recruiting talent from the lower leagues but they need to join existing quality not be relied upon to take us up the league.

Apart from that there'd be cries of 'we've gone cheap again'.

We need to buy a class Centre, Scrum Half and Prop and let players develop behind them. Class breeds class!

We should have the cash to buy class in at least two positions. One must be a 7 and develop the young players under them.

The argument about overseas/home-grown is spurious - the REAL debate is part-time/full-time

Below the SL players have a career outside of rugby. It takes a very brave player to throw that away and go full time on the off-chance that they are successful in SL.

I understand that SL "rules" are that players must be full time, so that surely prevents a lot of lads from lower divisions being prepared to take a chance at higher level. Who is going to jack their job in to get a month's trial with a SL club after which you might be binned anyway ?

I think that's a bigger problem than the imports.
