Duffen shouldn't be able to get away with such a sweeping, disdainful comment about RL fans!

Duffen, by his own admission, is ignorant of Rugby League. But I suspect that his naivety is now in danger of being replaced by outright hostility towards this 'rival' sport to his beloved football.

For all his faults, at least Adam Pearson was reasonably respectful towards the Rugby League community in this City, presumably because he was raised in the RL heartlands itself and understood its history.

For all his protestations to the contrary, Duffen COULD easily have secured an RL Test Match for the KC Stadium (as exemplified by Wigan) and quite frankly his attempts to shift the blame towards the RFL are pathetic (why should they be forced to wait until June for an answer??)!

I wonder if there is a way to have the SMC removed and let the Stadium be run by a committee of local people, a rep from all local clubs, local businessmen etc?

When asked if he had responding to many letters from rugby fans about refusing an international match at the KC, he said "that can't be true because they cannot write".

Was this played on the air? If so its absolutely disgraceful and grounds for an apology at least and potentially disciplinary action.

That was on Humberside last night, Burnsy asked him during the Hull city forum, it was apparantly meant to be tongue in cheek but not many people have taken it that was, myself included. As I said we should boycott buying anything from the KC that is going to make the SMC a profit, its not like it'll be a big loss cos the food and beer is of a poor quality anyway.

Anyone else think this may have just been him trying to play it down with a bit of humour that people then grab onto as being a dig, we are afterall fairly sensitive to people knocking our game a lot of the time arent we.

Yep, it was in reply to a question at the Hull City forum that was broadcast on Radio Humberside on Tuesday night. I'm sure he was trying to crack a funny, but its a brave man indeed (or a daft one) that would tick off BOTH FC and Rovers supporters in one fell swoop!

Im sure the council can act if his actions are not in the best interest of the community and is solely thinking about hull city.

should be neutral in charge of the SMC so as there is no bias to either club. That would be the most beneficial to the Council.

I fully agree with that but the reason they let a football chairman run it was to tempt a chairman with some money to run hull city, and its worked looking at city's standings in the football world compaired to where they was before the KC, it has been for the good of the community until now.

Hull were offered a place on the SMC at it's inception but failed to take up the offer, for whatever reasons that was it now seems to have been a poor decision.

Well hope he sees the banner on our next sky game...

Haven't seen anyone blame football on here on this issue.

Duffen has made a poor decision from the SMC's point of view. he could have earned a decent sum of money for his company and ultimately the owners of the stadium had he bothered to review the usage of the stadium in its short life.

It doesn't matter if it was a flippant remark or a deadly serious one. I am certain Mr Hoddle and Mr Ratner would like the opportunity to turn back the clock to rephrase things they have said in the past.

Talking about self esteem issues, why are you so jealous of a minority sport like RL when you follow a premier league soccer club. I find it odd that a small number of Hull City fans try and fail to belittle a sport which is only played along the M62 corridor. Liverpool and Everton fans are not concerned with the fortunes of Widnes. Leeds United fans couldn't give a rats ar$e about Leeds Rhinos. So why are some Hull City fans so envious of the acheivements of the RL clubs?
