im not saying manu or Cuthbertson woudnt come because super league is still a good place for players to come and will always attract overseas players but at there age and ability you would think they would like to stay in the nrl for a few more years but again like i say it depends on the player himself, as for hindmarsh hes 32 been a 1 club man achieved alot over there and the his chances of playing rep footy is gone and coming over here for his last year or 2 maybe be a good option for him like fitzy choose to.

Not really, to get Hindmarsh to come you'd to offer him a deal higher than his current one. (I think he's got 1 year left at around 400k)

That would probably have to be a 3 year deal in sl. By the end of his second year and for all his third he'd be done.

He'd then be labeled a waste of money and a failed import, fans would wonder why they lost a couple of good young players to accommodate him.

I never said I wanted Hindmarsh, but I'll accept your example as neither of us know how much he's on or his circumstances. But players can carry on, maybe he'd rather play over here than retire? You see it all the time, players drop divisions just to keep playing the game they love.

My initial point was that I found your comment about not being able to stop Ryan retiring as an example of the plight SL is in strange, when we have players like Laffranchi and Hohaia coming over next year. To name just two.

Laffranchi is nearly done and Hohaia has got a four year deal after losing his fb spot with the warriors, the standard of players is dropping.

Because of the poor exchange rate Ryan would rather work on his farm, Hindmarsh is getting involved with the media.

Instead of Saints/sl signing these overseas players they could invest in youth and give them a decent career so they don't all off to union.

However, Hohaia started at hooker for the warriors in the NRL grand final, I think, so it's not like he can't get a game. Saints aren't even signing him to play FB, either.

I know, but he hasn't played in the halfs for nearly 2 seasons either.

He probably could get another nrl contract, but a reduced one not on a four year.

Someone mentioned Fitz as an example, which was a good one; how has he ruined his legendary status by finishing his playing career in SL? also, are you suggesting the likes of Trent Barrett, Andrew Johns, Stacey Jones and Jamie Lyon are regarded differently because they blotted their copybook's by signing for SL clubs.

Maybe George Best should have his legend removed for retiring to the play in America as many other European footbal legends and stars do.

He won't come, that's almost certain, but if he did, he's status with Australian's wouldn't alter and it certainly wouldnt take away his achievements in the game and "ruin" his status.

Internationally this could be a good thing.

I think long term the standard of SL will slightly decrease but sides will use larger amounts of young players. The best of these young players will probably end up in the NRL.

I run rings around dumb asses like you day in day out.

At £24 a match (which it was last season) X 13 games, you'd pay £312 to watch all of the matches. Knock off your £225 for a pass leaves you paying £87 more for the privilege of paying on the day or approx 3.6 games. near enough to 4 for someone with your lack of a grasp of the basics of finance.

And I'm guessing pearson isn't desperate for your £225 so will be happy for you to shell out every week and net him more.
