Richard was one of those FC players that have turned up from time to time over our history. Not the world's greatest, not the flashiest, not the biggest hitting, the best passer, the best kicker nor and I feel unjustly referred to as not the fastest.

What he was and still is is a player that came across as a totally honest professional with integrity, gave his all, rarely had a bad game and would play without a murmur wherever he was asked and do a plenty fine job at it. Slot in at fullback after a stint at prop, where's RW, kick goals a couple of years after his last, yep that Richard again, he must be considered the greatest versatility player ever in living memory if not ever in the history of the game.

Not deemed good enough to be a full international by those who select such, yet he would have done far better than some of the cack that have let down the country when pulling on the jersey!
He most definitely will go down as a club legend and rightly deserves a proper send off at a home game if at all possible, to a packed house before the derby game as Leigh aren't playing until the Sunday would be fitting.

Surely one of the best Hull players of the Super League era. Hardworking, professional and committed, intelligent and skilful, versatile beyond belief. Only lacking in pace, but for which he would have been a superstar.
His opportunities were always going to be limited this season due to the strength and depth of our squad and I think he would have gone at the end of the season anyway.

I feel quite sad we won't have the chance to say goodbye and thank you officially. Rich Whiting is a professional, never any rumour about his behaviour off the pitch and came across as a genuine bloke. Our loss is Leigh's gain. Good luck Rich and thank you.

A shame to see Richard leave but this is the correct decision.

He's been a great servant to the club - of the field as well as on it. Certainly one of the most popular players to represent Hull FC and one who always gave 100%.

We've already played those 3 teams away, nearest remaining league game to Hull is Featherstone next weekend. All the rest are in Cumbria/Lancashire, apart from Sheffield. Hopefully for Richard Whiting's sake, you'll recall him for 1 home league game, and he's captain for the day !

Will Rich count on our cap this year as I don't recall him playing a competitive game for us? If not we may not be able to play him if we're that close to the cap limit.

Easy solution, if enough fans request a pre season match against Leigh with whiting playing half match for both teams. Fans get to say goodbye and it would be a good crowd with Rich saying goodbye.

Second that! Allthough youre wearing a different jersey now Rich, you"ll always be one of us, a true Old Faithful. Thanks for 10 years of 100% dedication to this club. That is great news!
Don't think I've ever seen a player plug any gap in a team and not only do it adequately, but excel!
Never worried about short kick offs with Whiting on the field, and he was always first onto a loose ball.
Still can't quite believe he's no longer at the club.

Definitely, worse case scenario is we're behind at half time and it'd raining and cold. If we could agree with the RFL and Catalans it would be great to get Whiting to kick off the game, or at least bring the match ball on.

Agreed, would be fitting for him to lead the team out at the start of the game to be honest.

I think bringing on the match ball would be best because as was the case last season as part of the 2015 celebrations it gives a focus on the actual player before the teams come out!
