I don't understand this tbh, a few months back there were talks regarding him leaving but he made the decision to stay and then came off the quota. Why do all of that if he had decided to go again. Either way we won't get a feee but he would free up a huge chunck of salary.

Rght now we are short of cover in the halves, if Berro leaves we are still okay at centre but short at halfback and hooker.

Yes for the service we have had from him for the last 3 years with him being a high earner.Only my opinion of co.

Over the past three years he's been one of our better players or his been shifted around in position.

Its not been difficult to be one of the star performers in your current squad over the last few years or so. Plus he played all over the park for Brisbane, Queensland and Aus and was a star performer on a seriously consistant basis. Its not hard to assume he is on possibly the best contract at FC!

Its pretty obvious for me that Berrigan, Shrek and Fitz will be 3 of our if not top 3 earners.

It would be a big loss for us if he left. Although at times he looks average but its because hes too advanced for most of our squad imo.

I know he hasn't lived up to many people's expectations, but from what I've seen of him (not loads, admittedly), he's always looked quite dangerous. In 2008 and 2009 he was playing, in a variety of positions, in an injury ravaged and struggling team. Always going to be hard to look top class in those circumstances. Also, who'd be available to come in at this stage?

as I recall, little of the hype came from Berrigan himself, it was other people's perceptions of him, and you have to factor in that he came in to a side that where (and in some cases still are) light years behind the speed at which he thinks and plays the game, he has also covered many positions and had various issues in his private life.

Has he been overpaid, perhaps, is that his fault, absolutely not, and he certainly hasn't been overpaid to the extent that some of the total failiures I have seen in FC shirts over the years have been.

I agree with you to some extent and believe you don't get capped for austraila for nothing.I just think for whatever reason it has not worked out for him here and maybe he needs a change.I think its fair to say he has gone backwards,with even Danny Houghton taking the number nine shirt off him on merit.It was always going to be hard stepping into the boots of Richard Swain and maybe if he does go back to Oz it could be a blessing for us and him under the circumstances.

I would hope they pay compo....interesting that we paid compo for Westerman, maybe the club knew as the rumours have been strong since the end of last season.

Wouldn't the astronomical salary saving he is reputed to be on be enough compo for you. You paid for Westerman because he is a young player developed by another club, at least you didn't do a Bailey/Whiting job on Cas.

Personally I would not be bothered about compo, as you say his salary would be a massive saving, however the fact remains he is contracted so I would expect compo to be paid.

I thought it was a fantastic move by the club to pay compo for Westerman like you say he is young with hopefully plenty to offer.

For us old farts its called a transfer fee and a lot will remember FC and Rovers paying out some big fees in days gone by for such players as Skerrett, Kelly (

), Hogan, Norton (20k was a steal, how much now), Fairbairn and many others. Its only fair a club who brings a young lad on gets paid accordingly, otherwise they may as well pack up academies altogether.

I'm sure we offered £160k for John woods of Leigh, he wouldn't leave though. Remember when Bunting offered Whitehaven the loan of the whole Hull FC team to stop them losing to Leigh in a midweek game?
