The guy took us for a ride. Tells your ages if you think this guy was top class put on an old tape an see the Man P.Sterling. Jason smith got his injuries sorted out whilst here getting paid plenty. States he was retiring goes home plays two season solid no injuries and gives it all. Took us for a ride another waste of a quota player similar to some we have now.

Harsh in the extreme! Smith was exceptional for you guys the majority of time that he was here. I also reckon his club, state and international record would stand very favourably up against Peter Sterlings.

Jason had some bad medical advice when he was with FC, indeed there where several serious mess ups at the same time. A fit Jason Smith was a joy to watch and although I would agree STERLO WAS BETTER, Jason is up there with the best of them.

Indeed, some where self inflicted too.

A good player I agree but wouldn't get in the best XIII I've seen in a Hull shirt. He could carry Knocker's bag for him though.

agree Id have Knocker in front of Jason everytime but I think a certain Mr Whiteley may be in front of them both. For producing the unexpected you could possibly slot Mike Crane in front of Jason as well.

Being too young to have seen Sterlo in the flesh, Smith remains my favourite FC player. Had it all for me.

Crane and Norton were two of the best backrowers I've ever seen. Smith wasn't bad either.

Knocker was the man IMO. A wizard with the ball, hard as nails and a good turn of pace. Plus he was with Hull for 6 or 7 years. crane was an enigma but brilliant. Sterling was probably technically the best player I've seen in a Hull shirt but only really played a handful of matches for us.

Smith was definitely the best player we've had in the SL era.

Jason Smith was the kind of player every team needs in their history books.

Saw him destroy Leeds at the Boulevard with his handling and kicking game, score a try at Halifax running through a brick wall in the game Steve Prescott won with a last minute drop goal and sent off in our first match at the KC. FC career ended by a cynical foul tackle by Wire Wood.

Behind Johnny Whiteley and Knocker in our all time XIII but nonetheless a terrific signing.

I have to agree with many on this thread that Knocker and Mick Crane where players sprinkled by genius. I think Jason was the last 'proper' loose we've had at the club, a very good player indeed.

Slightly O/T, but watching the preview on SKY last night before leeds v wigan and they highlighted sinfield and o'loughlin, both of whom are more ball player than 3rd prop

Look at all the best sides; they have a ball player at 13; Agar seems to think that being able to carry the ball and handle it are mutually exclusive.

Anyone remember the game at KC against a St Helens side who were inbetween coaches at the time In the first half Smithy tore em apart. Longy and co. stood and watched him at times .If they moved up on him he kicked em to death . Stood off and he was chucking out sublime passes to the wings "stop smith and you stop Hull " and most teams tried that alright
Whiteley played in a different time a supreme athlete with pace when most other forwards were not as mobile . Yet he would have shone today no doubt

One of the best I've seen in a Hull FC shirt. Seemed to have all the time in the world to do exactly as he pleased.
