Actually that isn't technically true. Not only do the play-offs decide who are ultimately the champions, but they also decide the final make up of the top 8.

If rovers were to defeat us at the KC, then offically they will be classed as finishing above us. The play-offs are a part of the league season and not some add-on at the end unlike the old style Premiership.

If we do end up with a play-off derby at the KC, there will be even more riding on it than some people are aware.

Of course, all of this could be negated by the simple act of defeating Leeds on 4th Sept

Seriously though, I'm hoping we still have a big performance left in us for this season, the signs were encouraging at Warrington. And we are overdue a win against Leeds.

Most people wanted a Leeds win in the hope they'd be out on the celebratory pop all week, but clearly that's not going to happen now. The last time Leeds lost 2 in a row was March and they'll certainly want to be showing their title credentials. The other thing that concerns me is Rule and Agar's "bring it on" stuff in the HDM, as the last time this happened was before the CC game vs Leeds which didn't turn out well. Missing 3 of our first choice back 5 won't help either.
On the positive side for us we've got a decent home record, Long and Horne back and they will be without Peacock, Burgess and probably JJB. Hopefully they will play the game through the middle as they tried to today rather than play to their outside backs who are undoubtedly better than ours. I think Leeds will win, personally, but am looking forward to the game and just pleased to be top 6.

Expecting 15k+ according to the HDM. Hope everyone on here is encouraging their friends/family to go, we need to make it a white-hot atmosphere!

Hmm, strange considering the comments made on RLFans in the past about us been "irrelevent", Hull not "even noticing we exist", etc etc.....

Must admit will actually be nervous watching it as a neutral on Saturday because of all the possible outcomes re league placings and the play-offs, fantastic way for the regular season to end.

I really think Hull will come out on top for this one, but I am nervous about it all the same. Always go with the attitude that we will win but the crowd have a big part to play on Saturday and really a win and we finish 4th would be a great result after the last two years.

This is what getting rid of relegation is all about - Sky are now concentrating on the matches of the more succesful teams at the top rather than like a couple of years ago when they were showing matches between teams fighting to avoid relegation. It's about time the English (and of course the Welsh and the French

) learnt to celebrate success rather than supporting the underdog all the time.

Hmm, actually I'm torn here then - agree totally that it's great to be showcasing clashes between the top teams, but have to say that the drama and emotion of surviving relegation is something else. 2007 was probably the most dramatic I've experienced as a Rovers fan, managing to stay up that year (despite been the favourites to go straight back down) was an unbelievable feeling, and likewise you could see what it meant to the players. Whilst franchising is probably the right thing in the long-term, I do think something's lost when you don't have the drama of relegation battles.
