I'm not a lover of Leeds, I'd go so far as to say on occasion some of your fans are as arrogant as Warrington's and the goons. All said and done though this is a neutral game against our even lovlier antipodeans, one which I expected you to win (kerching)
As long as the game was a good un I'm not too fussed about the result as it doesn't impinge on us at all.
So, well done, you won a hard fought game just head for the adults room & ignore the playground.
However don't expect any such pleasantries come the domestic game

the same people that wanted manly to win tonight are the same people who support amn city or liverpool and want man u or whoever to be beat in europe. I cant and never will understand that. Im sure the majority of hull fans wanted a leeds win. Good game. enjoyed it

I agree. I wanted Leeds to win, I thought your goal line defence was great, and I thought your 3 of your props played really well. I do however think you got the better calls from the officials and in a normal SL game the result would be different. All in all an enjoyable spectacle, but not really reflective of how good either team are.

The world cup challenge is nothing more than a good warm up for the Aussies, its more of a team building excersise, They say the result matters but its rubbish, They come over have a few beers, train and have a decent hit out. The Aussie fans hardly know the game exists (And i lived over there for 4 years too)

This is not a go at Leeds more the game itself,if we really want to know who the best sides (Oz or UK) in the world are the game needs to be played mid way through the season at a neutral venue or switched each year.

This wont happen due to fixture congestion, not wanting to injure players and the fact the Aussies dont really value the game.

Leeds fully deserved the win, their defence was outstanding. They got a a bit of luck but you need that along the way.

Manly paid for not having a proper warm up game, they did under Hasler. Toovey shouldn't have listened to the players, not a good sign that.

I still have a problem with the WCC, heavily favours our teams due to timing, location, weather etc. Then when we win Sky will be banging on about closing the gap which is just wrong and is proven come the internationals.

If this game was at Brookie Oval in Mid March it wouldn't even be close imo.

Besides, this isn't about Leeds. Any British side contesting this trophy on equal terms would struggle to stay with their Aussie counterparts. Do Leeds fans really think that the dominance SL teams have enjoyed in the WCC is a true reflection of the relative strengths of our club sides? Really?

Well regardless of club loyalties I wanted them to win and thought it was a great advert for our game. I watched it in London in the sports cafe and it generated a lot of interest because a uk club was sticking it up the Aussies so that can't be a bad thing.
Yes Manly we're maybe rusty in pre season mode, yes maybe I don't like Leeds in general...but a club can only play what's in front if them and I'd rather a uk club won than an Aussie one

As would I if the competition was on equal terms. If we need such a massive help to 'stick it' to the Aussies, then it's not really worth doing. They should scrap the format or even it up.

It's a single showpiece game which generates interest. In that respect it does a great job, which is good for the game and over time if the interest leads to more players, coaches, fans, money, then the gap might actually have a chance of closing in reality at some point in the future. As I said you can only play what is in front of you so you can't take anything way from Leeds for that.
Is it weighted in the uk clubs favour? Yes. Would I rather it be a level playing field and see a 50 point hammering? No.

So you think that our club sides are consistently superior to the Aussies'? Wow.

TBF Leeds can't win with the rest of the fans in SL. They win because Manly havent had a warm up game and its over here, if they lost people would just laugh.

I agree any SL team do have an advantage but you have to give Leeds credit. The goaline D was impressive and pretty prolific in attack. Shame Sinfield can't play for England the way he does for Leeds every week, he was awesome last night.

Not a Leeds fan but hats off to them last night, they were outstanding and it was a really good game of rugby league!

I've congratulated them on the win on their board. I honestly thought the game would drift away from them at around 55-60 minutes but fair play, they stuck with it and got their heads back up.

I liked the way they tries to make Manly feel at home though, it was a really nice touch importing that beach.

to be fair i think a few SL teams would have beaten manly last night they looked like a team that had just got into the country and had no pre season games

RE the Webb call, say for example ball goes backwards first off, then bounces forward and player picks it up who is stood infront of Webb (thats mre what it looked like to me) it should have been a pen for offside really.

Good win for Leeds and an awesome game, no one is knocking Leeds at all just getting some semblance of reality on the situation.
