| For me, I'm gutted Gentle is struggling. I honestly thought he could be the man to bring success to this club. I just don't understand how he can go from rallying his troops in the way that he did against Wire in the CC, to tonight's performance. They just didn't look interested. I was bored watching. I'm just disappointed with how this year has panned out (wembley aside)... Gutted.

Pretty much how I feel too. I don't understand how we can be so inconsistent, looking very good one week to very poor the next.

| Seen enough this season and tonight in particular to suggest that we are going to struggle in 2014. If Adam wants my cash then he's going to have to show more than that.
Lightweight squad, low on experience , even lower on quality, some good prospects, but there is too little quality coming through to make us serious contenders.

| Same here we had a very good month in May we beat London easily then went and beat Wakefield in the Challenge Cup, we then went and won at Warrington at there ground and produced a very good display there when no on really expected it and then followed them wins up at Manchester beating KR and also beating Leeds at home. We lost our next four games then we produced an excellent display at Perpignan in the quarter final then played poorly at Bradford the week after but after that we played brilliantly in beating Warrington in the Semi Final of the Challenge Cup then we won our next three games then after that we produced a disappointing display at Wembley, the week after we beat Wigans youngsters but we also played some youngsters then we played poorly yesterday.
To me that is a very inconsistent season we have some great wins there but also some very disappointing games aswell. I just don't know how they can turn up one week and not the next.

| I don't know about a cunning plan but perhaps this wasn't treated as an all or nothing game in terms of getting some of the players carrying injuries out on the pitch.
Next week it is everything on the line and this (and hopefully the subsequent ones) is the game that the season should be judged on.
Last night was bad but it was the first real tonking on the scoreboard all season, which is not to say that there haven't been some poor efforts. It makes sense to reserve judgement until then - some of the reactions on here have been way OTT as usual.

Wouldn't disagree with that. We need some players back though. Hopefully Ellis and Lynch? Think the other 6 (McDonnell, Lineham, Crooks, Arundel, Galea, O'Meley) are done for the season.

It is a mystery. A lot of players seem to lack the mental strength to play consistently at the level required. At the moment some decent players are struggling to catch a rugby ball and as Gentle says in the mail our skill levels are 'appalling'. We were missing our three toughest players last night (by that I don't mean just physically although they probably are but profssionally and mentally) in O Meley, Lynch and Ellis. Without them there doesn't appear to be any leadership.

I'm sorry, but that's just rubbish. There are professional athletes/players. when they're on the pitch the only thing they should be concentrating on is the game they are playing and the same goes for off it as well. If they've got time to be listening and worrying about what the fans are saying whilst on the pitch then they shouldn't be anywhere near the pitch in the first place.

| I've said it before and ill stick by it... We've got the most overrated half back leading us around the pitch. He's like the pied piper, everyone loves him when he has 1 good game in 7. Holdsworth is the worst 'first choice' half we've had for a long time!!
We are desperate I this area. So we allow Salford to sign Chase out of pride/greed.

| Worrying thing for me is that we just aren't getting better with ball in hand. We look like an amateur team at times. Passing is painfully slow, no one seems to know what they're supposed to do, there are no dummy runners, support play is poor and creativity is almost non existent.
Late in the game we had miller, holdsworth, horne, heremaia and Houghton on the pitch and still looked clueless

Very frustrating to watch heremaia dart out of dummy half to commit defenders only to turn around and have no one there supporting him

| Westerman and Holdsworth are simply not good enough.
Westerman showed promise at Cas but they're hardly a yardstick for success. The only decent player they had was Chase and he was bought in.
Wigan got the better of Salfords half-backs and we got someone who can kick but quite simply, cannot lead a team or unlock a defence in the 20. We have strike players (when fit) who can punish from distance but we're fecking clueless attacking at the line.
Sure, last night we missed Watts, Lynch, Ogre and Ellis - 4 giant players who will hurt. Our forwards couldn't punch a hole through fog last night.
Our passing skills are woeful, we simply can't pass and catch. BASIC rugby league taught at a 6 year old level.
Release Gentle, let Lasty and Radders take command. 2 local lads who will beat some pride into that shambolic set of players.

| Release list:
Westerman - Can't believe we paid nearly 200k for this guy.
Holdsworth - Thorman Mk II
Horne - Carrying him now.
Yeaman - past his best.
Johnson - ineffective
Crookes - Poor, lower league and a PR disaster
Gentle - good in patches, bench strategy leaves a lot to be desired.
Of our 2013 recruitment, only McDonnell and Ellis have been worthwhile and we're not using Ellis properly.

After sleeping on it I partly agree with the above but would instead of getting rid of Gentle I would maybe add one or more attacking coaches, Sean Long? Also don't think they lack passion they just look knackered so maybe take another look at conditioning?

| Long?! No thank you.
Look what happened when Saints binned Potter and used Cunningham and Rush. They played some incredible rugby. We've gone back to the McRae boring style of rugby and now our defensive excellence has disappeared, conceding 70 points in 2 games - one against Wigans children!

| Those saying Holdsworth is the worst first choice half back we've had need to get a grip. Yeah, he was poor. And yeah, he's had a few poor games. But he's also been a stand out in many games. It's amazing how fickle our fans are. Earlier in the year we were saying we couldn't win without him, and now he's the worst ever?! Jesus! How many man if the matches did Seymour and Thorman get?
Do I think Holdsworth is good enough to get us into the top four? No, he's too inconsistent. But let's not be over the top.

Exactly what I was thinking! Some fans don't have a clue, they're just looking for a reason to p*ss and moan. It's not constructive or helpful. It's just ridiculous! Shaun McRae's side wasn't boring. And it has nothing to do with the way we're playing now regardless!

| And as for the comment about professional players should block out the fans, only the very best can completely ignore them. It's called support for a reason. Personally, we don't have a lot of "supporters". We have a lot of people that come and watch so they can moan. Last night must have felt like a home game to Saints. Clapping them after tries. And (embarrassingly) the home team were booed ON to the pitch! I can understand being booed off. You're frustrated at what you've seen. It wasn't good enough and you want the players to know that (I don't agree with clapping an awful performance, it gives the wrong feedback). But booing them ON to the pitch? Why did people bother coming/staying?!
Honestly, if I were a player, I don't think I'd want to play for this club. Why would the best players want to come to a club were its own fans verbally abuse you every time you make a mistake? I used to think our fans were the best and most supportive. Certainly we're in the early 2000s. Personally I think we're some of the worst.
