Houghton is back in the 21 man squad with Smith and Balmforth. Let's hope Balmforth makes the 18 and comes off the bench. I'd give him fifteen minutes either side of half time to see if he can have an impact again.

I cannot understand this endless criticism of Houghton. Yeshe is not James Roby but many coaches wiser than us play him for reasons some of which we don’t see. The ones I see are tackling, game management, kicking, less so his running now. I do agree he needs to be spelled in games and not play when he carries more than just the regular niggles

To be fair Grix is openly said this week that Houghton has more than just rib injuries. I just don’t see why we have to shoe horn him in to the squad. Yes he’s been a great servant but Father Time has caught up not helped by a refusal to play him in 20min spells.

I've seen him a few times. He's not the biggest and is still very young. But he is weirdly strong, defends well and runs good lines. I didn't think he'd feature this year but obviously the coaches see something in him.

He should have gone with Smith and Gene as I keep saying and I have seen nothing from him to indicate he was/is worth keeping on.He has got better players than Smith had but same results bar hammerings.

They're testing Kirby out defensively but so far he's stood up well for a small looking lad.

Decent start from Hull but a really poor error from Houghton in a great position.
