Watch opposition players wilt as game goes on. Watch how hard people have to work to contain him. Compare the 1st minutes to the last minutes and notice how the intensity hasn't dropped. In fact if it's such a game n needed notice how the intensity is probably higher.
Check wakey at home this yr and Saints at home particularly although we lost he is only player I've seen bash Walmsey about.

I feel that even if he wasn't captain he could still have have the respect of the squad to act as a leader on and off the pitch but maybe having someone else as captain and have Ellis support him helps prepare for the next few years?

I would have Mini as Capo next season, he will be on the pitch a lot more than Ellis.

This is what makes me thing we should elect a new captain, I think we all fear that Ellis may miss more games than he plays, as well as possibly having less game time,

Mini is a good shout, Westerman is someone many have seen as a future captain and maybe now the time is right?

A captain has to lead by example, every minute he's on the pitch, and be a leader/voice in the changing room. Mini is the stand out candidate, although Ellis has done nothing wrong, and I expect he will still be captain next year anyway.
