Yeah, I agree with that and we were lucky that we were playing Widnes and not a better team. Jez will only get better with game time though and he certainly has the potential. It's hard to bring the young lads through without causing form to take a nose dive in the process.

A more optimistic set of fans would be saying "we are finding a way to win" / " we are not playing well but getting over the line"

The issue is that if you don't perform to a half decent standard throughout the season you're not in with a chance of being in the mix at the business end of the season. We've lost 5 already which leaves us potentially 6 points behind 3 clubs . It doesn't look to me like the bottom teams will take too many points off the top teams this season so we're in a position where we can't lose that many more for the rest of the year or we won't be in the top 4. I already think it's looking unlikely we will be at the split unless we go on a long unbeaten run.

The good news is we have a high number of home games in the 2nd half of the season so a good opportunity to claw our way back into the mix

As I said on coffee ladies doom and gloom thread, last year we lost 11 and made third, we lose toay it makes it harder, however some are on suicide watch, you only need see the reaction to losing to top of the tree saints with 5 big names missing and an in game injury we had to cover, ridiculous negativity!

I think the bottom sides are weaker this year and 2 or 3 of the top sides look better (saints, wire and wigan) so I don;t see 11 losses being good enough for 3rd this year. I don't think we will make the play offs this year

Hopefully we can get on a winning run like we have the last couple of seasons, I think this team can do that, and we will hit form, just depends how far behind we are when that happens, because i think it will

At full strength Abdul is unlikely to get in the 17 with are squad as it is. We have just got 3 back rowers available again, which make Abdul at 13 unlikely. If Kelly, Sneyd and Conner are about, then 2 of these need to be unavailable for Adbul to get a game.

I like Abdul and think he has a great future in the game. He needs to be playing. After a full season out on loan last year, you can see his physical shape has changed for the better. If he needs first team rugby to maintain fitness, then a loan move is inevitable.

Believe me, at 57 mins in to the good friday game in 2016, I'd have been happy just to avoid the Middle 8. 23 minutes later, the comeback to end all comebacks (in a derby) and we then go on to win 12 out of the next 13.

The point I was making earlier was that many are bemoaning our performances, which have been hovering around average with noticeable periods of 15-20 min in games where we seem to click. But, we have won several of these games when under performing, we are still floating around the mix. not fully performing but still winning games, not really that bad is it. It does rile me when people say we are poor. We are not poor, just not performing to the best ability for decent periods of time in games. Perhaps our biggest disappointment was losing at Salford.

Realistically only Sts and Cas have consistently performed so far, but who would have thought Wakey would beat St's. Cas will falter when they play some mid week games which they will have to due to 2 postponements.

We have played, away from home, Leeds, Sts's, Cas (which we lost at last season as well). As you say, we have a run of home games coming up and with a trip to Wire being a tricky game.

A win tonight puts us in a nice position, but I would agree a loss would be damaging, but hardly season defining.
