I used to have that problem at spiders, John Taylor, ex rovers and great britain player, in the 80's i used to think he had a personal vendetta against me till i found out he did this on a regular basis to people he didn't like the look of, funny enough i never had the same trouble getting in henry's or ocean 11 (if i was feeling really brave!! ha ha!!).

Yeah my mate had these issues as well. To be honest, I'd probably have gone to Spiders more than I had done over the years had we not felt it was a lottery getting in. I can't stand bouncers that are like that and now refuse to go to places that turn me or my friends away without offering a reason.

I don't know how old various posters are, but does anyone remember an era when you couldn't get into clubs because you were wearing jeans?

I know what you mean about trainers, I was asked a while back why I don't go into Napoleons anymore on the odd occasion we come back up to Hull, I said to them, when it ifrst opened it was no T shirts, no trainers, no jeans and no hoodies etc. Now, anything goes, and it's often quite full of people who can't afford to lose what they're gambling and get angry when other people win.

Had a few good nights in Kestrel - no beer on sale so you had to arrive inebriated, then to finish off the night a few very late drinks in Gothenberg Coffee Club.

Once went to Spiders with a chap I worked with. He wasn't planning to go to a club, but was dressed in trousers and shirt. Anyway, we got to the front of the queue.

"If you come again," said the bouncer, "if you could wear jeans that'd be great."
"Wasn't planning on coming here originally" says my mate.
"That's fine. But if you could wear jeans."

He spent the night feeling a bit overdressed, and to this day it's probably the only time he's ever nearly been refused entry for being overdressed.

It wasn't really very good. Too small for it's sound system, in my opinion.

I don't think I'm that old but I remember those days, jeez you even had to have your shoes polished too. I remember my mate having a very trendy pair of suede shoes and they refused him entry because they didnt look dressy enough.

Always prefared Sunday night's , Milf night.

Milf wasnt even a name when we was out then Steve.

Always started off in Shire and made our way round...could add Dram shop to that as well as noth the same..also george as well.

I was chatting to a friend the other day.

Example is opening it, they've also got Wiley, Tinchy Stryder, Alabama 3, Tim Burgess, Ian Mcculloch of Echo and Bunnymen all confirmed and a few others pencilled in.

It will be amazing inside, the only problem is that town is rubbish. I'm sure it will have a busy midweek student night but the crowd you want to attract stay outside of Hull centre.

They also own a few other brands like Digital, Fibbers, Factory etc.

I like the sound of that, I'm sick of having to travel miles to see decent bands and also being ripped off for parking, food and drink. I know it's not NEC but I've still travelled to Manchester, Leeds, Lincoln, Bradford etc etc to watch the likes of said bands.
