What facts? I'm giving opinion. IMO when I've seen him asked about the Hull fans he has been less than complimentary. I've never met him so can only go on what I have heard from him in these circumstances. I don't particularly agree with him getting this testimonial for reasons others have given and I'm pretty sure that if this wasn't a Hull FC game the vast majority of those saying they want to "support" his testimonial wouldn't be going. Just like the vast majority won't be attending his other testimonial events.

Would be interesting if he didnt come back to Hull would all these Radford lovers attend his testominial ? After all everyones saying its because off what hes done for the sport and the community.

And if we sign Luke Briscoe back in a couple of years what will people say then?

The thing about us Hull folk is we respect (well most of us do

) our club representatives, wether they be 'prodical sons' or not..... we admire the way they cet up after being knocked down by 18 stone of grunt and muscle. Lee Radford has had his fair share of being tackled and tackling over his career...... He is now back at his home club and what i've witnessed in training... He is excelling in his new role! So credit where its due.... He is gonna wear the Black n White tomorrow for the last time. He is proud to do so, so support him.

Top and bottom of it is that all of his critics are nothing more than self ed begrudgers that cannot find it within themselves to go and support him and say thanks for all your efforts in playing in the greatest game.

And I'll again raise the issue of why it seems to be all Radford's fault that that was the case yet Fitzgibbon was some sort of superhero for doing exactly the same things in exactly the same role, just with a bit more polish and fitness. Neither offered the team enough (or were not able to through reasons out of their control), yet one is lambasted whilst the other is lauded.

I'm not a big fan of Radford, I actually thought we only needed one of him or Dowes and I preferred Dowes of the 2, but the venom with which he is ripped into in comparison to some others I find unfair and distasteful.

His biggest attribute was his work ethic and commitment, an excellent pro.

I also liked the fact that he wasn't scared to give the fans a blast. All this best fans, 18th bollox annoys me, we haven't been that in a long while.

Favourite quote about him was from Peacock's book - Noble addressing the players before a GF "Jamie you're one of the best props in the game, go out there and show em, Jimmy (Lowes) you're one of the best hookers in the game, go out there and show em, Lee....do your best"

Erm, he got paid didn't he? He left the club, gave his best years to someone else, then came back when he was past his best. Fair enough, that's his prerogative, but I certainly don't feel as though I owe him some sort of debt of gratitude.

It's not about him leaving then coming back, that much has been made abundantly clear: it's about whether he deserves a testimonial for having done so.

And i'll say the same thing again, where have i said it was all down to Radford ?

If they come back and do 10 years service they deserve a testimonial.

You haven't, but what I'm asking is why is one heavily criticised whilst the other was/is highly praised, when in their time here they offered almost exactly the same to the team? Purely in terms of what they did for Hull FC, what is so different to justify the extreme difference in how they are treated/regarded? One is labelled the epitome of everything wrong with the club for the last 5 years, the other one of the best signings we've made in the last 10.

Too say Fitz and Radford performed the same is crazy imo.

The amount off work in defence Fitz did was brilliant, not only just tacking but smart play in the line and working the man on the ground. He looked like the captain for me aswell as opposed to Radford rallying the boys behing the posts. He didn't offer much in attack for sure though, he isn't in the top 5 signings in the last 10 years.

While I don't particularly agree with most of what you've said, this is true. How anyone can say that Fitz and Radford offered the same to FC is daft, for the exact reasons you've just stated.

Well, the RFL have awarded him a testimonial based on his 300 appearances in a trophy rich career. I'd say on this basis it's deserved.

I didn't mean they performed the same in the level of what they did, but that they offered similar roles. I said in a previous post that Fitzgibbon was more polished and fitter, as you say Fitzgibbon was much better on the floor, and his fitness meant he wasn't as easy to get round when fatigue kicked in (although we did still see it). Both he and Radford were slow, predictable plodders with the ball, but had great work ethics in defence, Fitzgibbon was just more accomplished at it. Both still gave everything they could. That's why I don't understand why one is praised with other factors taken into account (ie Agar), but the other criticised and not given the same benefit of the doubt.

As I've said before, the Captain argument is completely irrelevant.

Thats where i see things different to you i think, in defence Radford is a bit of an old school get them on the floor n thats job done. He was a bad one for standing behind the 2 square markers ie offerering the defence line nothing and going for a rest.

I don't buy into the "he gave his all" tbh.
