Correct. There is probably an identical thread from last year

| People will still buy passes and I expect around the same amount as this year. I will buy because I know that come a game day I will want to be there, win or lose so I may as well buy a pass and save myself some money. It worked out at £15 per game for me last year with my pass instead of £21, which is a big saving especially when you had the free 4th round challenge cup ticket in.

| Think this will be the first season where we might have a dip in passholders, which is bizarre considering we have had a much better season. The reasons are the last game was a loss to Rovers, I think that will affect some people's judgment, no major signings likely and the current economic situation.

My judgement isnt impacted by rovers. If anything it was simply a final straw. I've been saying Agar needs to go for 2 seasons now and have pretty much been saying the same things about our performances for 2 years too.

Turner?
Has he ever played there? He struggles enough playing in supposedly familiar positions.

| There's a constant theme about the boring brand of rugby we play under Agar. A lot of people seem to be assuming that this is a deliberate policy. I don't see any evidence of that at all. What I [ido[/i see is a side that, yet again, has played the majority of the season with a makeshift half back partnership - and in the last two games with both half backs just returned from long injury layoffs. Why is anybody surprised that we don't play champagne rugby under those circumstances?
That isn't to say that there aren't problems with our attack. Movement off the ball, dummy runners, pressing up in support - all sadly lacking. But there have been signs of us at least [itrying[/i to play some enterprising and entertaining stuff when we have something approximating our first choice 17 available.

Isnt that where the major issue is though with our coaching? Our players that would be the runners or move off the ball have been pretty consistently fit most of the season. If they were coached properly (like Wigan) it would make any makeshift halfback partnerships job easier wouldnt it? I could put someone through a gap if i had 3 good runners like Wigan do. We dont do the simple things right and that has to stop with the coach. He keeps telling us what is going wrong but fails to rectify it and we have bigger issues than missing halves.

I agree which makes signing a half or 2 the most important piece of transfer business Hull do this winter. We cannot leave ourselves exposed to the injuries is pivotal positions as we have this year.

My take on it is that I pay to be entertained and enjoy myself. It's happened precious little in the last couple of years so I'm unsure whether I'll renew my pass or just get a kids one and pick and choose my games. If it costs me a few quid extra because the games are better then I don't mind paying it but feel I go now because I've paid for my ticket rather than becuase I enjoy it

More issues, certainly. Not sure they're bigger.
The other failings in our attack have been there to one degree or another since McRae left. Three coaches have failed to address them adequately. IMO that's at least in part down to the type of players we've had over that period. We lack strike players in the backs and footballers generally - although the latter situation has been improved this season when everyone is fit at least.

Absolutely bang on. Also when Horne's been fit this season and made a break, flashback to 2004/5/6 with Shaun Briscoe backing up down the middle. My view is that our HB quality would be adequate if we focused on runners and decent support play.

Coaching you mean?
The way our side performs you'd think that they'd never ran through any set plays in training to get into the mindset of where they need to be and when to time things.

I still firmly believe what i said earlier in the year, with the right coaching and preparation Washy and Berro would have worked in the halves. The issue for me isnt that our halves get injured or that we dont have cover there, the bigger issue is our coaches inability to get a performance from a makeshift team. (or evidently from a near full strength side either)

I also believe that its down to Agars (and other coaches) obsession with playing a prop/2nd rower at 13......we dont have no ball handler/pivot from there since J.Smith and dare i say it ...Cooke.
As for dummy runners....we may as well not bother...the 1st match at Sts in the fog we had dummy runners galore but then it dried up for some reason.

It's the main reason we struggle when close to the opposition line. The man with the ball has no options and we're therefore predictable and easy to defend against

The point I would make that it was ONLY ever Briscoe backing up - our problems go back that far.
Our first choice HB quality should be fine. Our second/third choice pairings not so much.

Washy will never be a half as long as he draws breath. He makes Rich Horne look creative.
We should have done better with what we had available this season - in some games at least. But that wasn't my original point. I was focusing on the accusation of boring rugby, not whether we made the best of a bad lot.

Got to agree, everytime the ball touches him the fluency of the attack just stops dead... then he'll either throw a poor pass out or he'll does he ever so predictable step.

Craig Fitzgibbons role needs to change from the 80 minute battering ram down the middle of the park. As the season has gone on he started to look cream crackered particularly in the latter stages of the game.
A ball handling 13 is imperative for next season imo.

I fear that Agar is inflexible in his approach. We've been saying for a few years now that Whiting or Washy must play 13. Agar doesnt agree.
