Would be to good to be true if we could land Carney. Getting frank the tank, manu and Scott taylor was great recruitment but to land a genuine game changing / match winner in our back line could be the difference between knocking around 7/8 to pushing for the 4. All of the above is why I just can't see this happening. Was anyone else watching the Leeds game last night thinking their hooker robbie ward worth a punt. Was surprised when they said going to Hunslet. Few mistakes but had decent game against a massive pack

| I really can't see any mileage in the carney rumour. I reckon charnley is more likely. Doesn't get on with wane

| It's true. My source is an Hull FC connection, not cas. I've been a member on this board a long time, rarely post and certainly don't have a habit of making stuff up. Just wait and see.

I agee Carney is a game changer but his defence is poor and that doesnt fit with Radfords player CV

Don't think his defence is too bad. In purely statistical terms in 18 appearances this season he made 68 tackles and missed 13. In comparison Tom Lineham's figures were 22 87 27 and Josh Charnley 19 83 26.
Interesting rumour though.

Thing with Carney is the go forward he gives you out of your own half were as lineham was purely a finisher. For a big lad he rarely broke a tackle. Think overall you can overlook carneys defence due to his other attributes were as tom would finish a couple of chances but give the same amount away. Not bashing the lad because he's gone but he did drive me mad the amount of bad defencive reads he would make.

He's eligible for England next year, on residency, if that's before season starts , maybe! Could't open link, so apologies if that's what it says

| Citizenship etc. doesn't matter, there is no 'quota' anymore. It's fed & Non-fed trained now.
We have -
Pritchard
Tuimavave
Fonua
Manu
Micheals
Talanoa
Minchiello
One of those will have to leave, we've only just signed 4 of them and I can't see us getting rid of Mini or Talanoa, so it would have to be Michaels. Maybe Cas will take him? Or Wakey on loan?

On what basis?
No criminal record, not done anything wrong whilst he's here. Not getting a visa on some pony excuse when they hand out visas to soccer players left right and centre would be poor in extremis.
The club wouldn't have renewed his contract if there was a problem surely?

| Whiting has denied it on twitter, would be gutted to see Whiting leave, still has a lot to offer but it very injury prone.
Not too bothered about Thompson, has his great moments, but consistent enough and too small for prop.
I really hope we sign Carney though, would give is a very good looking side for next year:

| Whiting and Thompson would still not free up the non fed place. It comes down to Michael's if true. Thompson ain't gonna be on big wage and he's probably one of the 'every team needs cheap players with effort' players. At a push I reckon it would be Michael's and cash or whiting but I hope not.

I reckon Thompson will be on good money, as we will have paid him well to leave Cas. His role as a squad player should be the likes of Turgut, Hadley and Downs.
It has to be Michaels to be released or used in part exchange I agree.

I think the rumour of our interest has legs despite the obvious logistical challenges. But it's a complicated scenario for all parties. Carney's clearly crossed a line big time at Cas.
We lack size and aggression in the three quarters, so he'd be a great fit from that perspective. His discipline's poor but as others have stated he wasn't brought to disciplinary last year so has a handy EGP at the ready. It would be a risky signing, certainly. But maybe the club feel the potential rewards of a player that averages 130metres gained per game are worth it. I could be wrong, but I think his try return in SL is 56 from 56? Can that be right? No idea what will happen but definitely an interesting one.
