| Miller and Rankin play too wide from the play of the ball, nine times out of ten Westerman is first receiver and then onto Miller,Rankin. Our play of the ball is too slow and too lateral. We are trying the dummy runner plays but because of the above oppositions see it coming and sniff it out.
Are they good enough? Probably not. Rankin gets the ball where the fullback should be and Miller is surrounded by the time he receives. Neither dictates the play but the best half backs struggle if their pack is bullied as ours was yesterday and on other occasions this year!
They both need to find the way to dictate play or neither will make it as a half end of!

| We could have done worse then signing Liam Finn IMO. Wonder if Sneyd will become available next season if Salford are after Green aswell now, might be worth enquiring.

PTB yesterday was so pedestrian. Could have got them offside loads of times with more urgency.

He probably will, but we don't have that time. If we had a decent 6 at the club it would be different, but we don't.

Miller is nearly 22 if he is to become good he should be showing signs by now, after all he is an Aussie rep.

| Anybody ever thought that millers poor form could be radfords doing, leaving him out in the cold at the start of the season won't have done his confidence any good and we don't know what sort of encouragement/criticism radford gives him in private, radford may not be handling him very well.
Let's face no one covered themselves in glory last night so to blame miller is a bit out of order I don't see the point in dropping him for someone who isn't going to do any better, the season is finished for us lets just leave miller and rankin to create some sort of partnership then we may get some sort of form out of them.

I think the coach & the 17 man squad are all to blame hard to pin it on just 1 or 2 of them.

Lets face it, most of us put in front of an aggressive angry radford would them selves, so I can't imagine how a 20 year old kid from the other side of the world must feel, knowing the coach doesn't think much about him. I'm not saying millers the answer or the greatest player, just think he's out best option, and an arm around the shoulder and a bit of support from everyone would help

| Miller wasn't great yesterday but he wasn't the worst player on the pitch and wasn't solely or even mainly responsible for what happened in the last 30 minutes.
At 16-0 we were cruising to a comfortable but not impressive win. We were making easy metres and Wakey were struggling to get out of their half. We weren't playing that well but we were playing better than them.
Then Crookes had a brain fart and lashed out in the tackle. Two yellow cards and what could have been a penalty to us became a penalty to them. They were immediately energised and started running riot, particularly down our left. Our defence was in a panic, we were missing tackles and they were offloading at will. Despite plenty of experienced players out there (Ellis, Houghton, Paea, Feka, Yeaman) there was no leadership at all. Paea in particular seemed to completely lose his head for a couple of minutes. As soon as they got it back to 16-10 I knew we would lose. It was Salford in the cup all over again.
Miller will no doubt be dropped for Friday, but he should not be the only one.

I hear Dave Butler will be making his debut, as we're so short on numbers given Radford's "don't perform and you're dropped" mantra

| Houghtons distribution is always slow, we never get a quick PTB from him. Surprised no other coach has tried to address this. Wakey were slow closing us down and a fast pair of hands would have killed them.

| Just for the record.
According to SL website.
Miller missed 1 tackle despite having Kirmond running at him most of the game.
Ellis, Hadley and Feka all missed 3 each.

| Do we have to go through this cycle of Miller played well or Miller isn't good enough after every game?
He is going to be inconsistent at this stage of his career having had so little first team experience in a pivotal position. He may well turn out to be not good enough and he may be replaced come the end of the season but for the time being we need to persist with him and Rankin in my humble opinion.

It would appear so. The only surprise is that we haven't had a thread about each player after that second half performance

Mine too. I don't see the point of changing too often when we haven't got a great deal that is supposedly better as an alternative.

| Miller is made to look poor by the timing of the runs by the players on his outside. There are many times that they overrun him, whether that is caused by the slowness of the ball from acting half to him, or their inability to time a run, I don't know - but it looks amateurish

I have to be honest, I don't really care how many tackles or how many missed tackles our scrum half makes. What I do care about is how influential he is with the ball in hand and imo Miller just doesn't cut it in that respect. He was almost anonymous at the weekend, the only time I noticed him want the ball was on the last play option when he put up a bomb or kicked downfield. He needs to make a greater contribution than that.

Understand what you are saying but i am getting sick of fans saying get rid because he can't tackle.
Don't think he was at fault for the tries we conceded but seems to be the main scapegoat.
He did play a crucial role in our first try but won't get an assist for that because Bowden made the final pass to Houghton.
I think he was given little room to play because we were so slow at playing the ball and our passing was pedestrian.
Plus we had little or no dummy runners because too many players sat back and left it to someone else.
