The point is that if we were missing Calderwood, Yeaman, Whiting, Fitz and Lauaki (the equivalent of the players they had missing), there's no way in the world we would beat Rovers 54-0.

If we had a fully fit squad and rovers were missing both half backs, 3 hookers, a full back and the club cat we wouldn't stick 54 points on them

And again, that's at least partly because Saints have a better squad than we have. And one that has been 'bred' to success over a large number of years.

There are more factors to our inadequacy than just Agar.

We are talking 2 class acts at halfback and a hooker that get players around the park ..That the reason we struggle no halfbacks in the same class IF Hull had that 2 we would be World beaters ..Every thing in that game came off for them

It's about much more than their 2 half backs. They play the game at a speed and intensity we are incapable of. they have lots of movement off the ball, fast, accurate passing, always players in support of the man with the ball and some wonderful handling skills. They obviously play with a structure that everyone knows and knows their part in it.

TBH, it's almost as if they play a different game to us. Thank fook it was foggy when we played them at KR

a) Saints had 5 out of their first 17 out and didn't just win, they smashed the opposition out of sight. No excuses, no lack of motivation, just plenty of kids up for the fight and some fantastic and thoroughly entertaining RL.

b) If Saints have "better players" and we are spending up to the cap on "Agar's squad", surely that's a reflection of our recruitment. Or rather Agar's recruitment.

The 2 halfbacks have the vision to make the breaks the other players as a team and back them ..They just do the simple thing better then other teams

From a Rovers point of view I settled down to watch the game of the weekend. After 10 minutes I decided it wasnt going to be. We were poor but Saints were telepathic, thats what we need to aim for. Backing up for an offload seems to be an ugly word for both of us, when they break its a toss up who they pass to, theres that many.
Compere Price on fire to Horne or I'anson? jesus wept at the thought.
I actually ended up booing Saints for not kicking their goals because for me the bigger defeat would hopefully shake some tactical brains at Rovers.
