I would say Sandow is better than Mortimer, Hodkinson is the pick of the young 7s in the NRL though. The next big young 7 in the NRL will be the superbly named Daly Cherry-Evans.

Watched Sandow week or so ago and he was terrific.
Sadly he's way too young to be signed by us. He lasted the full game too so that wouldn't go down well either.
Had his hand in everything, creating, support play, kicking game, organising, great defence ........ the type i'd buy, but we dont buy/need that type of player cos we need more and more and more forwards.

Sandow, Mortimer, Hodgkinson, Thurston, Cronk and any other players you want are all contracted.

Where's this "less money" coming from? The Aus $ is worth 57p at the minute, so anyone who came over could effectively double their money. I understand the salary cap is increasing with further incentives aswell. Anybody who thinks it's not financially savvy for Aussies to come over to the uk is economically challenged.

Thurstons on $700,000 a year. The rest of the top players are on $500,000. hodkinson, after 20 or so nrl games has signed a three year $800,000 deal. Show me a sl club who'll pay that. Their cap is 4.1 million dollars and has massive extras.

That's not including 3rd party payments and a hole host of extras, including a yearly $100,000 off cap payment to their top player which will double next season, the cap will also rise.
In 2013 their cap will go through the roof with the new tv deal.

No, I don't. Thurston and the like are never going to come while they're still in with a shout of SOO and test caps, so money's irrelevant with those players. I agree that we can't compete with the top 10% of NRL, everyone else is fair game IMO.

We, sl, sign either players who want a extended contract, are over the hill or can't get a regular starting spot.

As for the over the hill, extended contract view, that's how it's always been, it hasn't suddenly changed because of the exchange rate. The standard of NRL is on the whole, poor IMO, take about 10-15 players out the comp and it ain't that good. Even Crossman and Fitzhenry have got contracts.

What I mean is that without these players it ain't any better than SL IMO.

Eastwood came because he's lazy, wasn't a top and when he signed his contract the exchange rate was favourable, buderus is old, soliola was never a big name.
