And in the last 5 SL seasons he has scored 56 tries, that coincided with having Manu on that flank for 4 of them too, helped with a big glob of 21 tries in 2011, take that out and you have an average of 9 tries per season in 4 of the last 5 years.

Oh and Jordan Turner on our weaker flank..28 SL tries in the 3 seasons he was with us starting as a 21yr old..

| Quote ="knockersbumpMKII"If that is referring to me you have obviously failed to read and understand what I've written.
No-where have I said he (KY) should be dropped, I've said we should have got rid 2 seasons back, that Turner would have been the better option to keep, I've said Radford should be applying the same level of consistancy in picking/dropping players and that he won't be moving Yeaman either from the first 17 (certainly not for Arundal) or from the club..hope that makes my opinions clear.
'"
I'm sure it's been said, but you don't seem to be taking it in, Turner didn't want to stay at Hull.
Also if you read the thread about him on the Saints board, most of them aren't too taken up with him.
I thought he was another player who looked good against the poorer teams, but got found out against the top sides.

If you read back, you'll see my points were that of the three centres at the club, there can be no outrage at the selection of Yeaman ahead of either Crooks or Arundel because none have been any good this year. However, experience and career wise Yeaman's the best of an underwhelming bunch. Sa coming in spells the end for Arundel anyway, but where's the evidence Arundel's performances have been so compelling this year they should have forced Radford's hand? In your own time...
If you're seeking comparison with Turner on the basis of performance at a similar age, which I assume you're inviting by specifically referencing Turner's age as some sort of inhibiting factor, that'd be 52 tries (excluding the cup) for Yeaman in 3 seasons starting as a 21 year old. It would probably have been more had he not had a long injury in 2006 when he was rattling up braces and hat-tricks for fun. And in that period he won 1 Dream Team pick, 2 appearances for GB in Australia, 2 major finals and a CC winners medal. The reality is that Yeaman's career stats in Hull terms, even with the heavy weighting towards the first half of it, is undeniably stellar. In that context, and with the choice of Arundel (who'd been earmarked for the exit) and Crooks (clearly low on confidence), I personally understand why Radford has persisted with Yeaman.
I like Turner and Saints a lot. But to match Yeaman's stats by the age of 30 he'll need to get his international career going, get picked in the Dream Team twice, get to 4 major finals, win one and score 22 tries a season. Big ask over the next 4 and a bit years.

A fool eh, I'm not sure I understand, you'll need to explain that too me with workings out. and me abusive..oh please, again explain how?
I've nothing personal against Yeaman, I'd rather he was consistantly good every week every season, but the plain fact is he isn't and never has been. There are as I have pointed out in my earlier posts aspects of his game that can be excellent & his defensive capabilities are clear and obviously he can and has scored some tries. But he is lazy, he drifts out of games, he still can't pass for tofee, he still makes the same misjudments that he was making 10 + years ago, his overall season performances over the last few years (barring 2011) have being bang average for someone whom has international honours.
IMHO he has had preferential treatment compared to others, if you don't want to accept that that's fine.
But it is the abusive nature of many of the posters on here that are well out of line with how they respond to posts that they don't agree with and end up getting nasty and in some instances personal that mean fewer and fewer people bother to actually write something that has proven merit for fear of being lampasted by the sad narrow minded few on the B&W forum.
Personally I don't give a stuff, it's an open forum and I don't break the rules unlike some, it shows a certain lack of class with the way posters respond as I myself have resorted to in my last post (to prove a point)
Shame because when we're rocking it's brilliant, the bonhomme between the fans is awesome, however when we aren't and posters have a differing viewpoint and try to back that up using what is clearly in front to see to make their point others just have to bash those posters down because they don't like it and/or refuse to see the facts.
This thread is a prime example..
I'll be doing my 300+ mile round trip on the 4th or 9th to support my team so I hope you lot are too..

You're avoiding the key point here, again. Our three centres have been poor so far this year, that's obvious from watching but even more so when looking at the stats - loads of missed tackles and errors between them - so little wonder we're looking at Sa. But where is the overwhelming evidence that Arundel merits a place ahead of Yeaman? You've said yourself you "think he has potential", but a Radford has to balance threat with ball in hand vs proven defensive experience. With a fair few injuries and lack of experience in our back 5, I don't see the need for uproar at Arundel's non-selection, less to attribute it to Radford selecting the squad on a "mates first" basis. But I think most would agree the best outcome would be Crooks recapturing his confidence and form, and partnering Lineham again later in the year, and Sa and the bin man forming a partnership on the other side.

Hopefully it'll be Crooks and Sa.
Yeaman's been good , wholehearted , loyal and is rightly a bit of a local hero. He's never been the finished article though because of his lack of that bit of skill and isn't helped by him not being the brightest player in the world. Unfortunately unlike some players he hasn't balanced out his loss of pace as he's got older with better use of his head and experience. He just plays today the same way he always has , isn't going to get better and must surely just be keeping the spot warm until Sa or someone else comes in.

I can see Yeamo been played in the back row when Sa & Crooks are our first choice centres.

Wasn't meaning as first choice..just as cover, as you know the older the player becomes he loses speed & end up in other positions, I can see Ellis getting played at prop if we are low in the front row also.

| With Carvell, Paea, Feka, Watts, Bowden, Green and Thompson all fit. Ellis won't be needed at prop at all and I'm pretty certain of that unless we get freakishly unlucky in the prop department.
Same goes for Yeaman in the back row. It won't happen.

Ffs why does everyone get called a coach just because they have an opinion?
I'm aware players push up to the back row>front row as their careers progress. Doesn't mean Yeaman will, he's too small for a forward and hasn't got the work rate imo.
But whatever you hear off your mate Radders makes you feel good. Then good for you.

It's not about him "crawling back" , he's done nothing wrong , he's given his all in a Hull shirt and been as good as he can be. If he plays for us and he's not good enough that's the coaches fault for picking him. The plain fact is the guy should be being replaced [ibefore[/i he's past his sell by date and that , depending on your view is about now , a few months past or coming pretty soon. The successful teams in most sports get rid of players and replace with better/fresher/younger models just before rather than just after that player hits the downward slide. It's like knowing when a player needs to be substituted , a good coach doesn't wait until they make mistakes because of fatigue he makes the change just before it happens. Our history is punctuated by teams getting old or breaking up and there being no ongoing plan in place to make the necessary changes either as a result of sentimentality or incompetence.
