He's quota but fed qualified. I think the residency rules were scrapped a while ago and it's now all about what passport you hold. |

Administrators’ Sale of Sam Obst to Hull FC
Spirit of 1873 Ltd (“the Company”) notes that O’Hara’s, the administrators of Wakefield Trinity Rugby League Football Club Limited, have this morning sold the Wakefield Trinity Wildcat’s Sam Obst to Hull FC.
The Company wants all our loyal fans to understand that this transaction has taken place before we have been able to sign-off on our ownership of the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and that the Company is not a party to Sam’s sale.
While we are sad to see Sam leave Belle Vue we’re proud of the service that he’s given to the Club and wish him well. We also recognise that his leaving frees up a quota spot in the squad that will allow us, once we have full control of the Club, to bring in a new front row player.
Work on the legal agreements around our purchase is still ongoing and the final written approval for Andrew Glover under the RFL’s “fit and proper person test” is currently awaited.
The Company will issue a further announcement regarding the deal with the administrators once it has been finalised.

Can't say I'm overjoyed but it gives us some more depth I suppose and is an improvement on Turner at 6. Is Horne back for Friday? If not then Obst at 6 and Turner to centre for me.

I'm happy with this signing.
He is exactly what we need. Houghton can't play the full 80 every game and as/when Long/Horne are injured at least we won't be fearing the worst.

Don't think so. Obst has a current UK working visa and it just needs to be transferred from his old employer to his new one. Phelp's visa had expired so he's had to apply for a new one from scratch. |

decent signing gives us rotation with houghton and back up for the halves but a 1 year deal would of been better and im hoping he isnt going to be our starting halfback for 2012

I think we need a sense of realism with this signing. He will be interchange hooker. When his 2 years are up, we should be seeing Houghton in or around the England squad with Newton or Cunningham (Jr) ready to step up.

Berro and Tansey must have been on £200k between them, I'd say Phelps is a £70k player and Obst is a £50k player, so Hull, what are you going to do?

According to many on here Berrigan never made much impact because he was too good for the players around him. Maybe Obst is sufficiently inferior that he can make an impact. |
