Would rather we get a young British half,pay some money for one if need be,treat them well with decent wages and you have a cornerstone of your team for years like most of our top clubs have over here.
You go looking in Aus and bring someone over who does well and 1 or 2 years down the line your back to square one when half of the NRL comes calling and your player disappears.

not many about!!! possibly briggs,or moore,that's about it! out of the 2 briggs would possibly be the one as moore has had a couple of chances(i think??)already at sl level.

And both cost a lot less than some journeyman aussie.

If the right half was to be available at home or in Aus, with Longy and Webster around to help them develop then go for it, if not save the cap space and quota spot for during the season for if anything comes up.

Its actually been around a while.

and we actually showed a lack of vision by not looking for another overseas signing until Berro had come off the quota rather than starting the search when other clubs did, thus losing out on certain players already.

And if Berro hadn't come off the quota for any reason?

Ben Galea's situation was almost identical wasn't it? He took up a one year contract extension thus removing him from the quota as he had been plying his trade here before 2008 the same as Berrigan. Whether it was taking up an option in his contract or signing a years extension is irrelvant as they are both the same thing in theory.
