Turner was in and out of the team at the start of the season, Washy's been in for Horne but Agar said he would have been dropped for the derby had Fitz been fit, Burnett's backwards and forwards to Sheffield. I guess what the coach looks at is the potential for success in his 17 for the week ahead and weighs up form and proven quality. If you're more in the unproven/inconsistent category, your form when selected has to be right up there. Briscoe has a bigger tick in the proven quality box hence his international selection IMO than Hall or the others on the fringes of the team.

I honestly can't remember, but then I can't remember what happened a week ago. Maybe it was before we found out he could play on the wing as well as every other position.

I'd say Whiting was most definitely not in that category. He's proven to be reliable and versatile in whatever position you play him. Rarely has a bad game.

Fair enough, and I agree with you. My point being that at the start of the season, where would he have been an automatic selection? He got back on track last season after those horrible injuries, but wasn't an automatic selection (hence his number 21) but has taken his opportunites and played so well this season that he pretty much is now.

Ok, there maybe a little confusion here. Hall was dropped, people wanted Briscoe to be treat the same (not many but certainly more than one). It's pretty much the same.

The bitterness jibe was a bit tongue in cheek, but still you bit.

That's not how I remember it. I recall the point being more about the lack of slack people were willing to cut Hall compared with Briscoe and some others. I only really remember one poster suggesting that Briscoe should be dropped and I only remember that because it was an odd position to take.
