At the end of the day 2 points are 2 points irrespective of how we play, fotr those who say we're not playing all that well, and have won our last 2 games against teams that are not doing so well themselves, think back to last season, we would of lost those games,( so we must be improving), type of play doesn't bother me that much but coming away with the points do, but I'm only a female so what do I know.

That the problem quite a few fans have at the moment, comparing us to last season. Last season was horrible, it was not the season that has truely reflected the stature of the club and where the team should be. Seasons 2004-2007 is what we should be compared to. 2005 and 2007 werent fantastic seasons performance wise (mainly consistancy) but we were still the 5th best team in both those years (in 2007 we canme forth but if Wigan hadnt been deducted points they would have finished there) and if we were improving on those seasons then fair enough.
We really have gone backwards overall and I wont be happy until we are back to at least serious top 4 contenders. We arent far off points wise but performance wise I cant see us getting there. If we had progressed sufficiently after 2006 we would be certs for the top 4.
I would class us in the same bracket as Bradford and Wigan for letting on field performances slip dramatically |

I'll check tonight, but I'm pretty sure that Cas had the lions share of possession in the first half. IIRC it was something like 69% to Cas at one point.
Castleford's performance wasn't even the worst of the weekend IMO. |

Iirc Cas had it quite a bit early on but towards the last 20 minutes of the first half we had a lot of ball which wasnt in our own half. I remember thinking how poor we were with ball in hand in the Cas half many times in the first half
It doesnt matter if Cas' performance wasnt the worst of the weekend. They looked disinterested, made poor errors and didnt dominate the game at all. The only team who came to be as bad as them were Wigan on the opening day of the season, and I suppose Bradford away |

We did have a fair amount of ball late on on the first half, which eventually lead to our try. We made too many errors but did at least attempt to move the ball about and offload.
Cas' performance compared to other sides over the weekend is relevant if you're going to claim that they were the worst side we've faced all season. Also I don't think they looked worse than Salford last week for starters.
It's all about opinions, though. |

We only looked to offload once we had been tackled, and was trying to get the ball out. The only time someone attempted a decent offload was when Manu made one in the first half when he got an arm free in the middle of a tackle but Horne knocked on. Moving the ball around is only good if there is some sort of idea of whats going on. We just seemed to be passing it around hoping for the best, not putting on moves or having any real contructive play.
And still dont see how it is relevant. What have teams performances aginst other teams got to do with how they played against us? Whats Wakefield performance against Bradford got to do with how they performed at the KC for example.
I didnt feel Salford were too bad last week, just didnt have that spark in attack. Cas showed glimpses of that but gave away too much ball, lost the forward battle and were in their own half alot. We had the opportunity to put lots of points on them whereas I dont feel Salford made it easy for us to do that against them |

What about the second half at Quins or the Wigan game away last season? Then what about the games at Wigan and Saints in 1999!! We conceded a total of over 130 points in those two away games!! On the plus side the Salford game was a win and the Cas game was an improvement, against a team that have shown that if you don't close it down they will cut you to shreds and who were undeafeated away from home this season. Then there is also the fact that all the team are trying hard and at least no one appears to be T*ssing it off at present.
There are of course plenty of things on the down side though, there always will be particulaly if your looking for them!!! They are mostly for me, centreing around the fact that we don't have enough pivots, and until the abysmal play from 7 and the lack of creativity at 13 is addressed that will stay the same. Our rugby will be one dimensional and our kicking game predictable and easy to read. For me the change over the last two weeks has been caused by the unpredictability of Horney coming into the line and creating another pivotal position! However after all that is said, 4 points from two games would have done for me two weeks ago.
Finally it is very apparent I think that some folks just enjoy moaning, for some reason, and probably long for a couple of seasons under David lloyd!!!
I think that when you are a supporter of any team, you have every right to complain particulaly when you pay your money to watch players who are not trying, that is unforgiveable. However most supporters always look for positives from the team they love, and 4 points from 2 games is just that, a positive! A vocal few however just look for negatives, they thrive on running their club down and and are obviously by their comments dissapointed with 4 points!

We mostly are in agreement Wilfy - maybe its the longevity supporting HULL - 4 weeks ago I was in despair but after beating 2 teams who I think are in Super League I feel so much better
