The available evidence and a bit of common sense says that we are spending a fair bit less on the cap this year than we were last year. Therefore why would you think that the club was reinvesting profits when it stands to reason that they are simply re-allocating funds that would normally be set aside for wages?

I'm not sure what the club telling us that we 'aim' to spend full cap has to do with whether we are actually spending it or not, you do the maths there's no way that we are spending to the cap this year. IIRC the comment about Westerman being paid for out of profits was before Berrigan left so I'm not sure what relevance it has now.

this is just another (poor) rumours thread, people posting opinion and claiming it to be fact.

We planned on spending full cap, Berrigan and Tansey have since left. We've brought in Obst and Phelps, while also paying a fee for Obst. I'm not denying there is probably cap space left, just that it won't be anywhere near the 150k reported that Westerman cost. There's also rumours that O'Meleys deal was back loaded, why not believe this one? Doesn't it suit your argument.

I'm not making any argument mate, it's clear as day to me that we aren't spending anywhere near the cap this year, if you want to toe the official line and say that you think we are then that's fair enough. I just happen to think it's naive to think the board are selflessly re-investing the majority of the profit they make to better the squad.

It wasn't really an accusation anyway, the club said Westerman was being bought using profits before Berrigan and Tansey left so I always assumed that claim was null and void now.

You even went so far as to claim that in the 2009 season we had the best discipline in the league. If you're not doing something as foolish as that you're just wittering on about injuries. As you say a nice bit of "ownership" on your part. But as I said then dont let your rather worrying obsession with Rich Agar get in the way of facts.

And unless you re-write history Agar has had more than his fare share of injuries under his regime. But as I said at the very beginning I would give Agar 8 or 9 games this season to "turn things round" with a full squad. Sadly at the moment I dosent looks like he will. But if and when he goes my thoughts wont be based on his accent or how "thick" he is.
