| Joe Wardle is a reasonable quality utility man who’s become injury prone of late. It’s like Peter Gentle is back in charge.

| Not about Hodgson, but his former club Wests
Apparently looking at both Wane & McNamara if/when Madge is relieved of his duties.

| These players have put in pathetic efforts under three coaches, so that tells me the attitude and professionalism of this group needs breaking. I dont think either of the 3 head coaches this group has had has coached them to have no backbone or pride.
I honestley dont know if Hodgson will be successful here but no one coach out there will transform a team from 8th to top 2 or 3 in one season. A new coach needs at least 2 to 3 seasons to build, from what I hear things behind the scenes where massively behind other clubs something Hodgson has alluded to in interviews recentley.
What we do know is the pack needs more fight and depth, the backline needs more speed. Thats a start.

The above is pretty much on the money. There is a reason that the team is not performing to its potential and it has had 3 coaching changes so whilst there where some issue with the old coaching regime the changes made in regards to coaching has not made an awful lot of difference. We have even had a few changes in player personnel, so you have to ask is it all down to coaching or is it down to the attitude of the players within the team and particularly the core group of players that have been here for some time. Is the loss of Ellis in the playing squad who carried an authority and didn't accept players not putting in the effort part of the problem with now no leader or respected player within the team to hold them to account for the poor performances?
Something in very wrong within the team as the talent is there and they are capable of doing much better but there seems to be no fire or intensity within the group as a collective, the usual players seem to give it their all but there are some that just don't.
As for the pack we have a big issue as we have 3 players that have hardly strung a run of games together for two seasons due to constant injuries and until that gets addressed it will be a problem.
I can only hope the BH now has full understanding on the players that can be counted on and the ones that seem to lack conviction and pride.

I don't believe that's true. Justin Holbrook took a Saints team that looked finished and transformed them and he only stayed for 3 seasons. Most class Aussie coaches rarely last more than 3 seasons before they find a better job. It took Daryl Powell 1 year to get Cas to Wembley and he transformed their style of play in his very first season.
All I look for is any set plays, or stylistic differences in our play this season compared to under Radford. And I'm yet to notice anything different. Even the much talked about extra effort in defence early doors is no different to when we was playing well under Radford.

| Didn’t Maguire win super league after just signing Paul Deacon?
To be fair, he maybe had more to work with than Hodgson.

Tears on my pillow, then
I can see clearly now.

Our style wont change why we have the likes of Shaul, Reynolds, Sneyd and Houghton, probably the worst pivots in SL., certainly the least creative and carried by Connor.
Desperately need to add a halfback and hooker to our squad, if we dont things wint improve next season.

Holbrook had a better quality of players to work with though...
Makinson, Grace, Percival, Lomax, Roby, Walmsley, Knowles would all walk into our team.

Yes they did, also Thompson, Taia and Fages.
On paper they had a great side including the best two props in SL.
Hodgson doesn't have that to work with.
He does have a base though and with a few quality players in the right are he should have the players to start turning us around.

The results speak for themselves so im very much on the fence with Hodgson. However that Saints team Holbrook took over was already full of championship winning players and a conveyor belt of youth talent, however he still only won a major trophy in his last season. Saints were also in a better position then we are.
The trouble with this squad is its all built on brute force so there is not alot you can do with in terms of expansive play. When we had all of Sneyd, Reynolds and Connor playing we have created space but ultimately when one piece of the jigsaw is gone we have fallen apart.
Saying all that though we should have finished higher and have said that every year since 2017. Its time for players to be moved on, they missed there chance. Im hopeful if BH can get a few players he wants then things may improve.

| More cloak & dagger stuff from BH in the HDM regarding Ben McNamara [url=https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/ben-mcnamara-future-hull-fc-5941673here[/url though not sure why he can't just come out and say one way or the other if McNamara is or isn't going to be with the club next season.
If decisions have been in terms of him staying or going then surely he or the club could let us know instead of this non committal guff that 'his future is now clear'. The club need the fans onside as much as possible and currently the way BH is coming across is just making me wonder if he's actually interested or not as its quite a negative stance particularly after the way they finished the season.
Everything just seems to be a farce as if they don't even know their from their elbow

I agree wtf was that, between the lines he’s probably off, logically you’d think, if he had signed, they would say so, who knows it’s like espionage. Maybe big Maccas taken him under his wing at Cats.

Exactly Rider you'd think under the current malaise with the fans due to the poor season and the way the last 10/11 games have gone you'd expect the club to be doing its best to engage with its fans. For me all this sort of stuff does is antagonise us, if you can't say anything then don't say anything at all, he's either staying or going so I'm pretty sure they can at least let the fans know that without releasing details. I think the fans have supported the club fantastically well especially with not being able to see games yet they seem to think that this guff in the press is the way to treat us.
Talk about how to lose fans and alienate them.

not really bothered about McNamara
when you look at Pryce at Huddersfield who is only 18 thats what you want to see from a Half back.
McNamara is average. Will end up as a nine with a Championship club.
Have a look at the try Pryce scored at the weekend

| Excluding the HDM clutter,...
“We’ve had our conversations with Ben,” Hodgson said.
“He knows where his future lies and I’ll wait for that to come out in due course.
“This isn’t the forum to speculate on that, as I said, Ben knows, his management know and we’re aware of what his situation is.”
Hardly rocket science, players prefer to announce new deals (rather than "no deal"icon_wink.gif, so let's wait and see.
(OT Premiership agents earned about £270m last year, about the same as broadcasters paid ManU. )

| For me, we'd have been better with a proven coach, simply because they'll have faced adversity, at some point before in their coaching career. Hodgson has never had to stand up alone as the go to guy previously, that was always the head coach, so he has no experience of handling the situation he faced towards the mid-point of the season, which for me, Rovers game apart, he handled pretty badly. His bench rotation, at times, was bizarre and he certainly lost some of the players, although we don't know if, behind the scenes, moves were in place to oust several before their contract's were up.

Ideally I'd have liked Shaun Wane, as his teams, sometimes devoid of flair, were aggressive and left nothing in the stands . I am obviously not privy to whispers within the game as to who was available, but I am sure AP was and I feel sure we could have recruited even a stop gap like McDermott, who at least would not take the current attitude shown by certain players without confronting it. I am not saying that Hodgson hasn't , but whatever, if we stick or twist it is depressing to watch our team at the moment.
