He has actually played much better than I thought he would and I wasn't against him coming in to share the hooking role with Houghton for a season and provide some cover at HB. Still dont agree with limiting our quota options for next year by signing him on a 2 year deal though.

It still effects things. My own personal view is that quota spots should be reserved for top quality players. As much as Obst has played well so far I still think a 2 year deal is a mistake.

You haven't to be fair. If it's your opinion then it's your opinion. Assuming Lauaki and Fitz leave at the end of the season, and possibly Phelps, then it doesn't affect our overseas recruitment at all.

Lauaki makes no difference as he isn't a quota player.

apart from cronk,thurston,prince and one or two more who we wont sign anyway,most of the rest are like green,herbert,holdsworth.no better than obst.

Why? Fitz and Phelps are out of contract at the end of the season. I make that 2 quota spots. It's also not a pre-requisite that you have to fill it.

Your argument is too overwhelming. The signing of Obst is an utter joke - AGAR OUT (I'm actually part of the merry brigade) but I can admit I was wrong about the signing of Obst. Thus far, he's worth his weight in gold.

So if Hame left, the second year for Obst means we could sign a non-quota non-fed trained player. Loads of those knocking about.

I don't think they'll be to many quota/fed trained players available next year, so In theory he shares a full overseas place with Moa or Lauaki.

He won't stop us signing anyone unless we wanted Galea.
