I don't think it is, yet Hall get's the finger of blame pointed directly at him when in similar circumstances. Hardly seems fair imo.

When there is an overlap against him he has no chance.
It's all the times when there is no overlap and Hall still gets it wrong that rightfully draws him criticism. Look at Welham's try in this years derby at NCP as a prime example. As I said if Hall could eradicate his defensive misreads he would be a quality player with a big future.

When i first saw Hall on the bench i thought it was a waste however after finding out Mcshane had dropped out and with the players available it was a reasonable option to have him on the bench in case of injuries.
So no criticism of Agar on this one for me. (Yes you did read that righticon_smile.gif)

I disagree. Burnett would have offered little options off the bench for the backs and if the forwards had big problems Washy/Whiting/Turner could have feasibly moved up into the second row/loose forward position.

You do realise that people arent slagging players off, they are simply suggesting where we can go better. (and they are enjoying the win)

Tbf if that was Hall on the wing,he would be cruicified by now.......i would have brought him on as the game was getting stretched and we could have done with his pace and vision for a gap...but we won so not woth arguing about.

Speaking of which we are conceding pretty soft tries out wide at the mo. With Calderwood ruled out for another month at least we need to be finding a short term fix for this.

Our sliding defence has been exposable all season tbf with cross field kicks or swift miss passes wide.

Maybe Whiting was not at his best but he was left badly exposed on the wing, i would blame him for one try but the rest he was facing 3/4 players. No mention of Turner, he seemed to go missing in defence tonight. As a previous post mentioned Meli just hugged the touchline our sliding defence just didnt slide. Can we now close the negative thread and just enjoy a sts double and 6 points above kr day

Exactly. The problem with Hall's defence is when he steps out of the line when he doesn't need to. Had he played on the wing last night and played how Whiting did, there would have been no criticism from me. I've been saying all season that our compressed defence is costing us too many tries and it's unfair to blame the players out wide for it when they've been left out to dry.

Maybe Hall was on the bench as Longy had been ill prior to the game and Hall would have freed up either Turner or Tansey to go into the halves. The only other option would have been Burnett but we had enough forwards already.

I admit it wasn`t one of Whitings best ,but stopping Meli is like trying to stop a runaway truck.

whiting can be excused for one bad game considering the amount of good games he's had this season.

Totally agree, its a sport and players are never going to play their absolute best in every game. Whitings good games far outweigh his bad.

Agree. But it's still worth pointing out that it happened and i'd hope Agar looks at our sliding defence in general. It's made Hall and now Whiting both look poor at times this season.

He does. But he's also been hung out to dry and then blamed for tries that were down to our sliding defence and not him, similar to the Whiting efforts who then seems to avoid blame.
