I believe agar deserved his chance at the job. He had served his apprenticeship under previous coaches, so its only fair hes getting a crack. who else could we have attracted to the job anyway that would have been any better than we had with sharp? We can only judge agar fairly once hes assembled his own team.

I've been watching the club since the late 70's and haven't seen any evidence of us having a domineering pack since then

What's fair about giving a job to someone who hasn't got relevant experience?

It was a good pack but certainly wasn't head and shoulders above anyone else at the time. More to do with having a world class coach who got the best out of his players and made the most of opposition weaknesses.

We also had a great 1/2 back pairing to run the show

Then maybe someone should send a video of the team from around 1989 to 1991. How one coach can turn a group of average players into full international trophy winning players.

How do you reckon someone gets the experience if your not willing to give them a chance!?

Dont we know it, it took a 3 year campaign on here for them to put our history and trophy haul in the programme!

Even in thre disasterous 70's we had Mick Harrison and a few others who really got stuck into the opposition and win or lose theoppositions pack came off really knowing they had been in a game, not now though!

Early 80's side played free flowing rugby thanks to some of the best backs in the game. The other 2 periods hardly saw us with a domineering pack, particularly the early 2000's when we were a low to mid table SL side.

The pack of the Brian Smith era was good, but was bettered by the widnes one at the time

To be fair we did transfer list him!

He was some player. Remember McRae saying he was like the glue holding the team together.

Obviously you forgot when we went about 15 games unbeaten in 2006 which got us to the grand final.

2007 was a bit patchy but that was mainly due to injuries and the cooke saga but he still managed to get us to 4th ( IIRC ) and we was 1 game away from the GF.

2008 - well everyone knows how bad our injuries were but IIRC we lost 2 or 3 of them games by a couple of points, had we won them he would still have been here most proberly

I agree with every word of that. Sharp was/is a good coach and did a good job here.

Many people on here [iwanted[/i Agar to get the job. Claimed that it was Sharp holding him and the players back, and once Agar was in charge we'd see some exciting rugby.

Let him get his experience somewhere else, preferably not straight into SL.

We can't afford the damage being done while he tries to get rid of his training wheels.

I don't think any current SL club would take him on if he was relieved of his duties here , NL 1 maybe.

To be fair some coaches and some players find being in front of the media uncomfortable.As they are employed as coaches or players,this is understandable, as media men is not their job.
