| Same thoughts as everyone else really.
That was truly shocking, right up there with some of the other diabolical displays we've had to endure over the past 5/6 years (and God knows there's been a few of them).
Low in energy, low in spirit, low in desire, determination and commitment. Disorganised, disinterested, inept and clueless. Some of our defensive reads, first half especially, were almost comical in the sheer level of their ineptitude (not that any of us were laughing). It's a truism in sport, in all sports, that when things aren't going well, go back to basics, keep it simple and direct and build back up from there, but we can't even carry out the foundational basics of RL football to any degree of competency.
Everyone connected with the club; Pearson, Smith, Gene, the rest of the (so-called) coaching staff, the players, Mr DJ, Uncle Tom Cobley and all, need to take a look at themselves, at where they think they are taking this club, because right now the direction seems to be irreversibly downwards with any flickering hope that the fanbase has being rapidly extinguished.
I would give a little pat on the back though to Tex Hoy who showed some classy touches in attack (without an ounce of support or back-up), although in defence he must have felt at times like the last remaining soldier in Custer's last stand!
This is the worst state we have been in since 1999, at least? This cannot seriously go on for too much longer, something, somewhere has to change. I get a feeling the last remnants of fan patience with Pearson/Smith/ the club itself! finally evaporated by half-time this afternoon.
Truly depressing times for the faithful. We can't see even a pinprick of light at the end of what now looks like a very long and dark tunnel. I know it's the immediate aftermath of a crushing defeat, and emotions always rage hard on nights like this, but, right now, I see no hope or encouragement for the rest of this year, nothing to cling onto as a positive to take forward.
Where, on earth, do we go from here?

The squad is simply not good enough but there's no excuse for lack of effort in defence and a clueless attack. The buck stops with Smith. Another thrashing and he'll have to go. The problem is can we afford to pay him off and who will replace him.'"
My thought is Smith has two games to stay in post (Cup game and a derby). There needs to be a massive reaction to the shambles we witnessed today. Not convinced that reaction will come, though.
Based on Smith's record in British RL over the past 20 years plus, I thought he would be the man to reset the attitude/culture within the club, but something is painfully not right.
Who would be available to take over the reins, I've no idea, there is no-one obvious (and available) that readily springs to mind, but we simply cannot go on like this for much longer.

| I cannot stress this enough, all the anger and frustration now needs to be directed to those at the top. We have had coaches come and go and during the past 5/6 years not much has changed.
Remember who has done this season on the cheap, remember the ones who have kept loyal, die hard fans in the dark over pretty much everything that’s going on at the club. Remember who keeps stringing us on, acting as if we are thick and think things are just suddenly gonna change for the better.
Adam Pearson, thank you for what you’ve done, but it is simply time to give up the fight and go.

Personally think Smith had had long enough to have made changes for better, unfortunately Smith and Genes impact has been to take the club even further backwards despite his record and experience.
I honestly believe we couldn’t do any worse than let Grix take on the role for the rest of season.

David Lloyd, Kath Hetherington, now Adam Pearson. Each of whom thought they could run down our club without any of us noticing. The buck, ultimately stops at the top, and that is the Chairman/CEO/ Owner. He has to front up and accept responsibility that this mess is of his own making.
It's only three years ago that TS took a club to within 80 minutes of a GF appearance. A club, remember, that had only one top-six finish in the preceding 35 years, and here we are not much more than 30 months later and Smith looks like he's never seen a game of RL before, so ineffective he's become. Seems odd that after a largely successful coaching career he's suddenly lost his way so spectacularly.
There is something rotten in the state of Belgium (and indeed West Hull as well!). Whatever good Pearson (and Smith) were going to do, their time has been and gone. I have no idea of who/how/where we change the dial, but change has to come, and significant major change at that, or we risk disappearing down a large hole for good.

| Our recruitment and retention has been poor for years. I suspect that two of our biggest losses not appreciated at the time were Andy Last and Gareth Ellis from the coaching team, for their attention to detail and leadership respectively. I think that really came home to roost today. The coaching team looks really thin.

| I have had a lot of time/sympathy for Smith, i felt that he’s been put in a bit of an impossible position.
One thing I will say however is that he has spent the full week begging for a quicker pace to the game. Well today we got one and we conceded 54 points. An absolute shambles, today is the first time I’ve felt that he is truly out of touch with the state of the game, every try in the 2nd half we barley laid a finger on a Leigh player. It simply isn’t good enough.

He inherited Radders legacy of giving his mates big contracts at two different clubs. Not advocating a return of Last but of the recent coaches he has been treated the harshest. I'd take 2020's 6th place and CC and Playoff semi's right now.

He did but if we’re blaming Smith & Gene as a collective for Hull’s failings (rightly so) then Last has to take some blame for Radford’s failings as his assistant. Especially since it was at 2 clubs.

| Anyone who thinks Andy Last is the answer or even was first time around then they are on crystal meth
It seems anyone who’s been near the Club is tainted goods
The only answer is a Head Coach who’s so ambitious he doesn’t need man managing by AP , as AP can’t manage a morning shoite never mind a Head Coach
Also a new Head Coach who’s hung around discipline and ambition to win , not ambition to try hard if you lose
Who’s the best number 2 at Storm for example
That’s what we need

Obviously it's not that simple, but essentially that is what we need. Someone who has worked under a Bellamy, Cleary, Robinson etc, is highly regarded, and is now ready to take that step to being a first team coach. I don't even mind if they come here for a couple of years and then go back home. We just need someone who can set us off on the right path. Much like McGuire and Holbrook did for Wigan and Saints.
Granted this job is probably far tougher than the jobs those two inherited.

| That was really bad.
Tony Smith has a history of turning round every club he's been at.
We might be the club who finally breaks him. It would prove what a basket case our club is.
Not sure what the answer is, or if there is one at all. There are so many weaknesses across the squad.

Think that's a bit harsh on EseEse a few times today he drew men in and looked for the offload but mostly there's noone there in support.
Okonbur was poor, made no impact at all and Pele just seems wild and unfortunately with the ref changes we don't need wild erratic players.

Ese'ese hasn't done too much wrong, and whilst Pele has had a disastrous start discipline wise I do think he looks a handful when he's on, so the jury is out there for me. Okunbor looks like a pudding though. I'd be interested to see what he's like on the wing. If he's no better then yeah he will go down as a terrible signing.

Okunbor just seems too chilled out, most of his drives seem to have minimal effort and his tackle stats are probably boosted by him just being the third man in sticking the odd arm in here and there. Pele reminds me of Dylan Napa at Catalan, too much of a hothead and Catalan eventually got rid after one season

| Ese'ese I think will go on to be a good signing. Pele could be if he tightens his defence. He's good going forward but his defence in the middle today was poor in the second half. He got ran past 2 or 3 times and is slow to turn. Good effort chasing back on one of them though to help stop a try with Hoy. Thought he was unfortunate with his yellow. One of those where Dwyer had his back to him so Pele can't see the exact moment the ball has been released. He was committed to the tackle before the ball even left Dwyers hands in my opinion. And Dwyer milked the absolute out of it. There's been plenty of late shots this year that haven't been given as a yellow card, probably some not even given as a penalty.

| Pele will come good imo, he's a young kid moved to the other side of the world playing in a basket case of a team with rules that penalise every little tickle. Once he's adjusted and got some continuous game time I think he'll be a cracking player.
I just hope he doesn't go the same way as Lauaki where his card is marked by referees looking to penalise him for anything before he's even stepped on the field. I personally don't believe there was anything wrong with his 'yellow card' tackle it was marginal at worst and I've seen people get away with worse but then again he's got a Hull shirt on.

| Well played Leigh, great support and so much. noise from a a travelling band of supporters who very much remind me of our hard core support, they never stopped singing from start to finish, and to dismantle us as they did on our home ground, was a sight to behold, magnificent first win for them, in adversity, with super stars missing they did us with ease, destroyed us with craft and structure, Brad Dwyer outstanding, he wasn’t good enough for us apparently,
On to my team, weak, unfit, no spirit, muddled, no structure, absolutely pathetic investment in class or solid players, apart from Herman, the rest are championship material at best, Okinbar is bang average, and although Nu Brown talks a good game, he doesn’t deliver, one token run a game, poor passer of the ball, and no discernible kicking ability, leads me to think he’s not the answer to our go forward as a replacement for the great Danny Houghton ( that’ll get the hackles up on the never actually go to a match forum)
Tex had a decent game, but like general Custer eventually it became too much, Sutcliffe is a terrible centre, and alongside Macintosh as a wing, wouldn’t get in any of the top six teams.
Half backs, we have Fev half backs,
Lane, Brown, Cator, Fash, not big enough, hearts of lions no doubt.
Ultimately we are, and have been a e team for years now, poor recruitment, lack of investment, especially in the first team, the youth investment is magnificent, but without a solid first team, it is meaningless as you end up with Stavely Martin, Litten, etc playing too many matches, and actually believing academy players like Jack Charles will step up, it’s unbelievable.
The recruitment of our club has been nothing short of amateurish, done on the cheap, super league is unforgiving if your crap you’ll get stuffed, and boy are we crap.
Now then AP it lies at your feet, as a supporter without any involvement in the club,, apart from sixty years of love I’ve invested, my suggestion would be to liaise with our Turkish bedfellow about communal investment.
Step aside.
Create a board of. Directors who are willing to invest in this once great club
Incidentally I was at Warrington and the friendles at Odsal and Donnie, stayed till the end of yet another heartbreaking performance today, and clapped these bunch of tryers of the pitch, but ffs if my spirit is broken,
and we have no rainbow anymore, then it’s done.
