Really hope Shaul plays, can"t just chuck Horne in after being out half the season. Wouldn't have him on the bench

Those saying Whiting is a good defensive winger, sorry you're wrong, he can't jump for shat, when playing there against Saints a few years ago (the comeback game I think it was maybe not) he got demolished time and again.
Yes he can make intercepts & can read plays fantastically well at times but he is slower than Richards and just because he is tall doesn't mean he can jump (because he can't), he'd get properly owned by Richards.
I want him on the bench as a rotating mobile forward because that is his strength ATM, if need be to cover anywhere else if someone gets injured
Start with Crookes & Shaul, show the we have confidence and are looking to win this from the outset..

If we play people in there proper positions , we"ll win . If we start moving everybody about , that's when you start asking for trouble especially when you've no need to . Shaul to full back and crookes to wing all day long for me . And if yeaman doesn't play , which I think he will anyway , whiting to centre .

My concern is in the centres where we have Yeaman who took a bad knock last week and Crooks who is making his first game return from surgery. That is far from ideal.

We have to play Shaul. Horne was truly outstanding upto his injury and in my book was the player of the year by a mile but this lengthy layoff will have taken its toll on him. Gutted for him but sentiment has to go by the wayside on this one. Shaul has been a revelation, sure, he has made the odd mistake but he just gets on with his job and looks and plays as a class act. No way should he be even considered for missing out. Ruthless Gentle has to be.

I share that concern, but am telling myself that if Wigan have a weakness, that's where theirs is too.

Like most for me Green & Horne to miss out barring any last minute injuries or illness (ala Briscoe 05)

Shaul deserves the FB spot based on last 3 weeks and proven match fitness

PG could consider Horne on the bench for utility value with Whiting missing out, hope that isn't a consideration! Gentle allways speaks highly of Whiting so doubt it

Horne to be 18th man unless one of the squad breaks down. He'll get his chance in the play offs.

There's no need to worry about Richards outjumping Crookes for the ball. All we have to do is stop them kicking it to him.

We stopped Joel Dogs Boll0cks when we needed to, hopefully we can stop Richards even if the kicks do come his way, which they surely will

I can't figure those who'd be happy playing someone out of position, just in case something might happen.

FFS even if they do kick to Richards and he collects the ball in the air, let him get to the floor then throw him into row six. He won't want to try that too many times.

Shaul at full back is a risk of course but I have a feeling he could be a hero.

Other teams seem to have worked out how to stop him scoring,i believe his last try was at the magic weekend, other people on here making out he scores off every kick are way off the mark on this seasons evidence.

I feel swapping Horne for Shaul would be crazy , match fitness alone should stop any thought of it. Go with the players that got us there. Look what happened when Kear dropped Brough v bulls for some player we had never heard of ?? well the rest is history !

I literally can't remember the last time I saw Richards out jump anyone to score in the corner so I wouldn't let that take that tactic worry you. His form has totally gone due to his age IMO and he needs to try and switch it back on.
