| I'm hoping that signing younger palyers on (presumably) lower contracts will mean that we have a couple of top quality signings in the bag also. Desperately need a couple of good quality props if moa and o'meley are going

I agree with this, it's my concern too it's going to really difficult to replace the 2 of them with the same quality in one year, this is why if Moa does want to return home, I would offer O'Meley another year.

| What if O'meley can get another 2 years some where else?
We can't keep everyone and if our squads not good enough to win things now why should we?

Yes, this was exactly my thoughts. Younger and cheaper, leaving our Salary Cap eavingly spread out. A four year deal does seem a long time, but for 20 years of age and of his class, i presume we've started to target the right talent.

Exactly how I see it, a slight short-term downgrade, but hopefully a long-term improvement.
Also, I'm glad to see that we seem to be more open to longer deals for players now. Whether Arundel is a player we should prioritise for one is a different question, but in general it's a good move which could help give us more continuity in future IMO.

| I hate my club we just develop very good young players and sell them to other teams, the other cas fans who have commented on him saying he isn't good are completely and utterly wrong (its probably because he is leaving that they say that) for me he will be in the England squad when he is at Hull. He was one of the stand-out performers last year and only an injury has prevented him this season. You have big potential there just like Eden at Huddersfield. Good luck Joe

For me we have a real gem with Lineham and I would expect him to get a chance soon. Big and strong with real pace and knows his way to the try line. A bit raw and still learning but he seems a smart kid so I'm hoping for big things from him.

Agree with this, if we get shenton as a direct replacement we strengthen our squad with a better player and you guys get a decent young centre on a long term deal. Win win. Suprised you lot have gone for him though in honesty as we have plenty of better young ens !!!!

| Hull seem to be doing well off Cas Tigers youth development (2 Joe's) but in a way its a good sign that CT are producing these youngsters - look at Greg Eden at Hudds for example. We can't keep 'em all (it would be nice) but we just cannot afford to.

I don't think there's chance of us winning anything, but not because of the centres. If those 3 was in Wigan or Warringtons squads, I don't think it would damage their chances of winning anything. Blyth at Wire and Goulding at Pies both looked distinctly average until playing in a winning team for a while.

For the potential alone i would rather have Arundel over Shenton anytime. Shenton has been a big disappointment at Saints and a costly one at that. When he does go back to Cas i would imagine he will still demand a big wage. Not bad for a player who seems to have gone backwards in his career.

I don't think it's bad at all, an England international, an England knights player and an England academy player?
I wouldn't say anybody's centres stand out.

Warrington's aren't too shabby, but agree in general, there don't seem to be any others with 2 that both stand out.

| Problem is we are in need of one centre at least and who of any real quality is actually available?
I'm not that up to speed on Arundel as to how good he is etc but with Turner he has improved under the new Coaching set up either by improving his own game or by the way we are now playing or both. So I don't see any reason why from what I've seen Gentle do with a team that Agar did nothing at all with, why Arundel can't along with Crooks be honed under the coaching staff into a more than decent centre.
If Sam goes and rumours that O'Meley on his way too then we need some quality forwards to replace these guys with as it showed against Leeds when our forwards get on top and lay a platform for the likes of Seymour to dictate play etc.
It seems Gentle is in it for the long haul building for a run of success not a flash in the pan win here and there and to do that we need young players on longish deals so we can plan on moving forward.
I'd like to see a quality FB come in if I'm honest as McKinnon showed what we have been missing and how a decent FB can change a game, plus I think we need another half along with replacements Moa & O'Meley if they go.
I am sure though that with Adam Pearson, Peter Gentle & Bomber we won't be just making up the numbers and won't let us down.
