| Quote ="lummy"I'm surprised by Manu's decision but if you think about it, Moa is obviously going and Luaiki's already gone - he don't fancy being a one man mafia.
Being serious, losing those 2 may be a factor and lets be honest, its his last pay day and saints are obviously offering big dosh under a proven coach like Brown.
We've still got Westerman and Ellis to name but 2 to add to our current back row options, it's hardly a priority.
I like many have wanted to see Horney play FB for years so again, whilst this is a short term blow losing Wade, I'm happy RH will be in a more 'appropriate' position next year.
The half backs, i do agree to an extent. The young lads have a lot to prove yet and personally I have my doubts and Seymour to me just isnt what i want to see in a scrum half. An improvement on recent seasons as he's a decent organiser yes, but =#0000FFhe needs to run with the ball more. I'd swap him him in a heart beat for Dobson or Dureau. =#0000FFI'd hope to see a more running h/b for next season and I'm sure we will.'"
Am I the only one seeing a major contradiction there?

Don't read too much into it I would say.
Manu: Rugby league is a short career and if he can get a better final salary wouldn't we all try to do our best. He knows he won't reacha testimonial with Hull which can be a big deciding factor when players get towards the end of there carerr. Plus Luauki also being an islander with a young family no longer in Hull and Sammy could be leaving in the coming year(s).
McKinnon: Who knows. Some people just don't settle abroad. Some friends of ours emigrated to New Zealand a few years ago lasted about 6 months. It can be a culture shock. Talk of fall-outs with Gentle and a work visa for his wife are speculation unless it's from the horses mouth. From a playing perspective I think he has been our best oversees signing this year but that is maybe unfair to Aaron.
It's also important to think it's the players job. Plenty of staff leave or go off the boil when the management changes and perhaps they don't fit with the culture. Doesn't make them a bad person and any of us would start looking for another job in that situation I'm sure.
Gentle isn't saying it's not his squad as he doesn't readily make excuses but I'll say it for him. He will have been well aware that we were very light at fullback and in the pack if injuries struck but is trying to play the hand he was dealt. IMHO Reece Lyne put his hand up for fullback as he want's to get a game and it is as now has been proven, our position with least cover. I'm not sure he'll make it in that position but we haven't seen enough at first team to gauge it.
In the halves, I think Ellis at 7 alongside Seymour at 6 would work best as Ellis has that creative spark that can make something out of nothing.'"
Was reading and agreeing with everything you said thinking, we've said that, then realised.

| I can understand the OP'c concerns if Im honest because whichever way you look at it we do seem to be losing some quality, however like I've said previously it's now up to Gentle to go out and recruit wisely and take this club forward, it looks like he'll have plenty of money available on the cap so they'll be no excuses. I also heard his interview last night and echo what robbo has siad it certainly sounded like he was making a point that McKinon wasn't one of his signings.

| I am extremely excited, optimistic and as passionate about what is going on at Hull Fc as anybody. I have got my passion back this season after having it drained slowly away by the previous regime. I have even started going to away games once again.
Look at it this way. Yeah we have lost Manu, possibly Turner and who knows maybe others, let them go and hope they regret their decisions down the line. Wade going was just one of them things, lets move on.
But we have signed Gareth Ellis already. Every other super league club went in for him and he chose us. I dont pretend to know what he is earning as it is none of my business, but again he chose us. I am also sure that it was stated that we didnt make the biggest financial offer, but again he chose to join us. Now i assume as part of the negotiations. Bomber and the others will have told Ellis about our plans, our playing targets, maybe even told him who we already have agreed to sign, and guess what Ellis chose to join us.
The future is bright, its black and white. Trust in the AP he will deliver

The number of matches missed through injury by Willie Manu compares very favourably with matches missed by Gareth Ellis last season and the present season (40%). Bearing that in mind I’m not sure Manu would be a better option for Hull

| .....maybe it's not the best comparison to make but consider what the present British government inherited with what Messrs Gentle, McRae and Pearson inherited from the previous regime!
Hull F.C needs time to develop and improve things both on and off the field. PG and SM need to create and deliver their own team and only then can their performance be judged.
The injuries have occurred at a time when it would have been good to consolidate our position in the league and progress in the cup. If we'd won our recent games then I'm sure that we'd not be so concerned about players coming and going!
The future's bright the future's definitely black and white!

Uncertainity regarding Moa, and O'Meley, and now why is turner holiding out!
I'm sorry but if you have "best mates in Hull, and are enjoying "the time" in Hull, signing an extension is a no brainer providing the contract details/wages are good, so why is he making us wait?
Seems ever since the Ellis signing everything contract player/contract wise has gone down hill..
We have an out and out full back gone, let's be honest we struggle with options without him.. Lost our best player and most creative/attacking player down our left edge, we could be loosing turner our hottest prospect, and on top of that, O'meley will probably retire next season, moa is still a question mark, apart from Lynch, that would leave a pack of; Lynch, Pitts.....do the maths.
If you want my honest opinion, i'm more worried about next season than this... and half way through the season we shouldn't be doing that, we should be enjoying this year...
What's your thoughts, is something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about?'"
Archetypical Hull fan.
McKinnon = Wife not settled so Hull release.
Manu = End of career looming and bigger pay day offered.
Turner = why is him signing a no brainer? He may choose to head back towards his roots. Hardly irreplaceable
You are right we shouldn't be worrying about next season and guess what ....I aint. Nothing going on behind the scenes, just contract negotiations, agents and the usual doom and gloom merchants sat in front of computer keyboards.

No, comparing the change in government would be like replacing Hetherington, Rule and Agar with Dobbo, Easty and Damo.

| Nobody wants to see any of our players leave especially the likes of Manu, Turner etc. but as has already been said, this merely wipes the canvas clean quicker than we thought. PG, Bomber and AP can look to strengthen their team in their way with a pot of dosh to play with.
Draw up the sails, the boat is ready for launch

| You've brought a new coach in, who a lot of people seem to rate. He now wants to build his own squad. I think those who said the current one needs dismantling are right. There are some good players, but overall the quality and balance of it hasn't challenged at the top.
For me the key to building something at Hull is to avoid the old mistakes of bringing in a few big names and to invest in your youth set up and bring in quality where you see a gap.
I've enjoyed watching Leeds over the last few years (yes, I know, booo, antichrist etc) because not only have we won things, we've won things using a lot of academy products, and some of our big signings have also been top UK talent. Not only is it more satisfying to see success with that system, but you also get players who are really bought in and committed to what the club wants to do. People like JJB, Sinfield, McGuire and Burrow are good players, but it's been the spirit in the squad that's been the key to success. Gentle will no doubt know that, and that's what he should be trying to do with the cap space the recent departures will create, not just try to bring in a handful of star names to paper over the cracks.
Just my opinion, but a bit of a clear-out is no cause for panic. On the contrary, I can see why you'd be optimistic about it. As an RL fan it'd be great to see Hull playing well and getting massive crowds every week.
