Has anyone noticed the striking similarities between our situation with Agar and the whole Kean saga at Blackburn Rovers? Promoted from assistant after the other bloke was sacked, poor start to his tenure which got gradually worse, then given a baffling contract extension/pay rise, fans up in arms, same old excuses trotted out week after week - it's uncanny.

Nothing startling with his signings but it will be interesting to see how he gets on at another club without the guiding/binding hands of Kath et al.

You would rather have Burnett or Aspinwall over Ali Lauitiiti?

He didnt do much at leeds last yr did he.Was kept out of team for a while and,personally,think he is shot.

Lauitiiti is way past his best for mine, so yes.

Not excited about our last two or three signings but wouldn't want Lautiti either. He has been a great player but isn't anymore.

Now that you mention it, I can see it. There's even the consistent poor results without really being on the end of a hammering, and now the captain coming out with 'the players are to blame'. If Kean is slurping a cup of tea in his post match interview when I watch MOTD tonight there's something fishy going on.

On thread, I'm another who actually leans towards Superbowl Scott's post. Recruitment was about the best thing he did for us.

I think Ali's best years are past but if I wanted a signing that was going to be used for just a year as back up or cover I would take him over those two players any day of the week.

looking at the signings agar has made, can't see one player that stands out so hardly buying well, signing plenty more like

i agree, a good coach can, something myself and many feel agar isn't

And Hull are on the full salary cap?

If signing players from around the world who can't get another club is good recruitment then I agree.

I've nearly broken my off-season sabbatical to post that exact same thing more than once, the similarities really are extensive. Another one is that Blackburn have liaised with clubs they were playing away at to have their stewards remove 'Kean Out' banners, when our old regime pulled that stunt at London last year I lost the last ounce of respect I had for them.

The only real difference I can think of is that Blackburn fans were on his case pretty much from the start (due to the craziness of sacking Allardyce, only to replace him with someone so unproven), whereas FC and perhaps RL fans in general seem to be a lot more easy-going and forgiving lot and, despite year after year of underachievement, were often willing to buy into the excuses put forward by the club or be 'bought-off' by one decent result. Of course, some of that may have to do with the fact that Blackburn are under threat of relegation and resulting financial melt-down, while that can't happen in our sport.

They were roundly criticised in the press for it, but I was actually really impressed by the principles of the Blackburn fans in booing even when they beat Swansea the other week. I read today that the Lancashire Telegraph has also published a front page calling for Kean to go, and it even states in the editorial that a win in their relegation 6-pointer against Bolton shouldn't be taken as a reason for him to stay on, as things have 'passed the point of no return'. Can anyone imagine in the HDM having the bottle to do anything like that?

Mind you, I would have loved a story about Uncle Kaff and JR trying to organise a Kelly Rowland concert at the KC to try and placate the rugby-going folk of West Hull into accepting another year of Agar!

Some of those players signed before Agar was coach, although i'm sure he must have had an input.

Is it just me that thinks there signings are more about quantity than quality?? I am looking forward to seeing Aiton and Isaac John but the rest are journeymen really.

Agree with this. Their whole 1-13 are new signings, can't really see them all gelling quick enough. London have added players with pedigree to compliment others rather than wholesale changes.

The similarities are so great that I find myself, quite irrationally, wanting Kean to get the sack.
