It being from that fella and it being made up wouldn’t necessarily be mutually exclusive. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with chucking ideas about, but neither the thing from twitter or that blog looks very different from the sort of thing you might see on the VT.

The thing is, that we need to try and keep it as attractive as possible to keep the fans coming and to get the best sky deal we can get.
I think reducing the cap would result in reducing the quality and becomes a false economy (a bit like getting a cheap coach can actually cost you quite a lot of money)

By and large the big clubs voting to keep their advantages and smaller ones trying to minimise the gap. The fact the clubs themselves are having a ballot and will vote as to what suits themselves best just seems wrong to me. The SL board thing was always a bit weird. We need a singular, competent, ruling body IMO.

Not really, the cap is there to stop clubs spending more than they can afford.
At the moment, 2021 income will be way down on projections made even 4 months ago. Quality will have to be compromised, or players will have to be paid less than they are now.
Otherwise the top four will monopolise the best players, the rest will struggle even more to retain them.
And an expensive coach doesn't guarantee financial success.

Its a tough one but plans will have been made and contracts may have already been sorted for next year so is it fair to impose this reduction? No one is forced to spend up to the cap so why restrict the ones that can for the sake of ones that cant?
I cant see it going down well with players at clubs who are voting for a reduction in cap yet take advantage of the marquee rule. Seems a bit of a contradiction.

| Can't see the point in reducing salary cap, will inevitably reduce the standard, mean superstars leave the comp & will impact on the youngsters as well - many of them can already earn more stacking shelves than they are paid at 17 - 19.
I would rather extend the Super League, accepting the big clubs will dominate - but you will still have lots of competitive games throughout the comp. Look at the Premiership, that is in effect 3 or 4 mini leagues within one.

I think the economic impact on fans would be more likely to influence prices, as some or all of job losses, tax increases, lower wages etc. kick in, RL might be seen as a less affordable luxury for many fans, and it may have to be priced to reflect that somewhat. Maybe even more so, if there’s greater competitive imbalance, for the teams on the wrong end of that.
There seems to be an acceptance that the next TV rights deal will see a reduction in income. To mitigate that, I think the sport has to stay full-time, but the money for that has to come from somewhere. Or maybe ‘we’ have to look for a radically different structure.

| From Matthew Shaw of League Express:
Quote
@M_Shaw1
Very much a Yorkshire/Lancashire & overseas split on the salary cap.
Castleford, Huddersfield, Hull FC, Hull KR, Leeds & Wakefield all in favour of reducing it.
Catalans, St Helens, Toronto, Warrington & Wigan against it.
All eyes on Salford, who are thought to be undecided.
People may be surprised that Salford is the club undecided, but they don't spend £1.8 million anyway, so it won't have a significant impact on their business or finances.
If Salford vote against a reduction it would be a 6/6 split. The deciding vote would go to the RFL.
As it stands, there is no date set for a vote.

| Guess Warrington atent worried about the cap being reduced and the impact of the virus. That's one hell of a signing. Hopefully it will mean we keep Jones, wonder how how he will fit in with Austin, Widdopp and Ratchford.
Someone we need to try and keep up.
Got to start with a new coach and some extensions

Good on Warrington. By announcing it now i guess its their way of saying the cap cant be reduced because theyve already spent it!
I hope he can stay fit because he'll be a joy to watch in SL.

With all the bad news of Ratu going and possibly Jones the club really need to make a statement by bringing in an Aussie coach.
I understand its difficult but we have a first class squad yet a third class coach in interim charge.

The announcement of a new coach would probably end any negative doubt about our imminent future Mrs B.

So would a multi million pound investment by a benefactor. But I can't see that happening any time soon either.
All today has only shown is that clubs with loads of money can put 2 fingers up at those who haven't.

We are not demanding an expensive coach but its surely in the clubs interest that we try to have a first class coach in place to coach what is currently a first class squad.
This would also stimulate fans interest.
Its no coincidence that the top three clubs have overseas coaches.
They are not here just to coach but also attract overseas players to their clubs.
Hardly think the name of Andy Last would be a major decider for anyone looking to join the club.
More like Andy who?
Furthermore do you seriously think that the future of Hull Fc is in jeopardy?

You said the club really need to bring in an Aussie, and now first class, coach. That won't be cheap. The club was already stretched financially before the season started. We have since paid Radford off (and he managed to attract Ma'u, Sika Manu, Pritchard etc, maybe not the best decision in hindsight) and are suffering big income shortfalls in the face of a global pandemic. It's not going to be a simple matter of returning to business as usual in a month or two, cracking on with the same level of squad spend, same recruitment parameters and a fanbase that's untouched by the biggest recession we've known. There will be jeopardy for many clubs. Demanding we add another big salary is folly in my opinion. I hope the club clarifies our position soon and it's carry on as before, but seriously doubt it.

If its the right coach, then I would advocate the extra expense.
The right coach would/could/should bring in more money and would also save money

Club Hull, get rid.
Probably wants to work under a better coach.
4 SL titles, 2 CC's and a WCC victory in the last decade.
Can't argue with that, and not even an Aussie.

If true we need to sign a new hooker, are there are decent British hookers off contract or do we need look to the NRL.
I find it really concerning that we still don't have a coach in place or even announced Last etc until the end of the year and have made no contract renewals.
