That's what I thought. I think it's just the lease can be re-negotiated after 25 years if all parties want too.. sure I read that our agreement to play at the kcom is watertight and we can't be kicked out before

My understanding too, HCC are f'd for cash, but the KC is a capital/crown asset, the SE grants etc. would mean HCC couldn't easily sell, the area around West Park/Walton Street is a designated public space, the Carnegie Library has more conditions than it has books. the KC is falling apart, the SMC could, in theory, return it to the landlord and, dare I say it, HRI could expand into the space, compulsory purchase of everything between Argyle Street and Walton Street, a big vote winner if (lets be honest, WHEN) Covid is still around!

Like most things, it needs maintenance but its a bit far fetched to say the KC is falling apart.

have you seen the elements in the roof and electric ducts, the damp in various exec lounges, the rust on the seat pillars...?
It needs a good £6m spending on it, not including the arena etc.

completely off the top of my head, in honesty.
Was reading up on the stadium, it cost £44m and took 14 months, the only significant investments have been in the main entrance and the arena (basically for the benefit of City).
When the new regulations as a result of Covid-19 come out I genuinely expect to see urinals disappear and physical barriers of some sort needed to enforce social distancing, some seats may need to be removed, I certainly can't see the rail/standing options being investigated much further.
It needs more than a lick of paint that is for certain. £6m may be on the top end, but that kind of money soon disappears.
HCC can go one of three ways, leave it alone and let it fall further into disrepair, invest money (they haven't got) in an asset that they can hardly be acclaimed for having sweated, or sell it to the Allams.
We are, rightly, concerned about the future of FC as a club due to the impact of Covid-19, but the stadium itself may be a luxury the council can no longer afford, especially if the Allams sell City and new owners make a realistic offer for the stadium.
Who knows what the picture will be in 8 to 12 months....

So basically making it up, including budgeting for spending money on meeting regulations as a result of covid, that dont even exist.

All he said was he'd give him a hand - maybe you can provide a detailed cost analysis of getting the stadium back up to scratch.
I'm sure the Allams will be interested even if nobody else is.

| Sounds like Sky are prepared to honour their £40m (?) a year contract with SL until the end of next year, even advancing payments if needed to keep the sport solvent.
Good for them, it could so easily have gone the other way.

On the haveyouseencarolvordermanrecently scale, I’d give it a 4 and the use of centred aligned text across the whole page a 7.

I can’t imagine what you mean but your first sentence is a hanging comparator.
If it was something vague (and left aligned or justified) about ‘preliminary discussions about rationalising the structure of the professional game’ I might think it was interesting. Diving straight into listing the teams/mergers with suggested names for the new ones undermines this document’s credibility somewhat, imo. They could have at least used Shuddersfax for the giggles. I quite like team names that sound like pubs though. If Manchester gets the Red Lion (I remember Withington had a Red Lion, a White Lion and a Golden Lion back in day), what’d we have... White Hart maybe? Or Hull Tribal?

Anyone can type a letter it’s whether you believe it’s official or not. One question, at least arises, where does it say the money from the department-for-digital-culture-media-sport is conditional and requires the league to rationalise? It does not the governing body of the game have spoken about rationalising but that was in terms of RFL and Superleague rejoining as one. The money was given for the game not clubs and its other focus was for the World Cup. The paper does not outline suggested structures.
This reminds me of a friend who received an alleged letter from Humberside Fire Brigade, this was during a particular dry period and hosepipe bans were in place. My friend had an elaborate pond with goldfish waterfall the works. The letter went on to say the fire brigade have the right to use the water in case of a fire. The letter looked official and he was fuming that an authority could do such. You see his anger got in the way of reality and he did not see it as the spoof it was. Still he is a Rovers supporter.
