| Jet lag is a real thing. It's not just tiredness or mental confusion, it effects hormone levels and organs which contain their own internal clocks. The effects can be managed but not eradicated.
Still more confident about Saturday than I've been for our last few visits though.

| Seen as though Griffin was up in the middle of the night and decided to do his meal prep for the week suggests that some of the players may be a little out of sorts for a few days this week

| USA Athletes and Sports persons medical journal
Jet lag is much less of a problem after travelling in a westward direction than an eastward direction because it is always easier to shift the body to a later schedule than an earlier one. Think about it, people have little difficulty staying awake a little longer than usual (and sleeping in later than usual) on days off, and this is exactly what happens when traveling west where everything occurs later than in your home time zone. But in the case of eastward travel, forcing yourself to go to bed earlier rarely leads to actually falling asleep earlier than usual, and waking up at 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning is never fun. Heading eastward shifts everything ahead of schedule, and the body definitely doesn’t like this change. In both cases, however, the body’s clock resists any disruption, and thus it takes time to readjust: at least one day per time zone crossed.
Athletes need to be aware of an additional jet lag factor that can especially interfere with their performance: timing misalignment. On top of the “internal body-clock desynchronization” described above, a misalignment between body-clock time and local-clock performance time can create problems even when jet lag symptoms are minimal. Such is often the case when only 3 time zones are crossed and in general it takes a day per 2 times zones to recover.

Think he was up first 2 nights in a row. First night back was up having a protein shake at 4 in the morning and then the next night as you say he was meal prepping.

Hence why you prepare your body, sleep pattern and mind BEFORE and AFTER your trip.
This is what professionals do, it's not rocket science and there are tried and tested methods. Maybe all those Olympic athletes that are going out 4-5 days before big events at the other side of the world and winning gold medals are just freaks of nature?

Are you a professional athlete, did you prepare king before the travel and did you also do what you needed to in flight and after you arrived back to negate the time zone difference?
I'll take that as a no shall I?

If that is so why does it have a medical name - Desynchronosis- which continues to be discussed in medical literature and programmes? Last night I saw it raised in the latest episode here of 'Trust me I am a Doctor'.

| I was a professional fool who thought jet lag was all in the mind
I was amazed AP had the team fly back 10 hours after the St George game
Because of course it’s all in the mind
Jet lag can feel like you’ve inhaled cannabis
I’m not a professional smoker either

Given that the team will have been preparing for the St George game in 17th Feb and that they then flew out of Australia on Sunday 18th Feb, it doesn't give a whole lot of time to adjust sleep patterns prior to travel. hence why it MAY be a factor.

| Tough ask with 4 of our starting pack out, they look full strenght, all squad numbers 1-17 named in their 19.
Going to have top play well.
very short in the backrow, need to find a way of having Carlos and Griffin in the 17, so I'd be tempted to use Griffin in the backrow off the bench, to be honest Carlos has good enough defence and is strong enough to do a spell there.

I like that team. Although I'd obviously prefer to be full strength. A fit Manu would change things up.
You can have a back on the bench when you have a utility on the pitch. If Connor has to move to cover an injury 1-7 then Griffin goes to centre. And as we've seen in the past, Griffin off the bench can change the momentum of a game.
Maybe he wouldn't be there with a fully fit squad but I like Abdull on the bench too. Bit of a luxury but if the game is tight with defences on top he could offer something new in the middle. Could he also spell Hadley at hooker for ten minutes?
