Gentle's first season was clearly better than Radford's first, however their respective second seasons weren't too dis-similar. Gentle had the advantage of playing Bradford and London (although both took points off us). A good April/May masked a mediocre season.
Both could do a job as an assistant but neither up to the job as a head coach. |

and I agree completely with that. Gentle's team had quite a few blow-outs and lost heavily at times, but won some more games, whereas under Radford we've tended to have close losses.
as for MrsB's comparison question, yes we can compare to the Agar era, we finished 8th in his last season too. 4 years of Pearson's ownership, 4 years of expensive signings, player payoffs, 2 coaches, much hype...and we're still 8th!  |

In fairness I think your end of season form was better than this suggests. Under the old format you'd have played a mix of teams right through the season. More of your better performances would have resulted in wins than they did under this year's system. Frankly, if I were a Hull fan (TF I'm not) I'd be pretty optimistic for next year. Radford will have learned a bit and you look to be adding some quality. Maybe not quite a top 4 finish but good for 5th or 6th would be my guess. But capable of overturning any top 4 team. |
