On Obst let's face it we got very lucky due to change in Wakefield's circumstances earlier this year, there was no pre planned strategy to sign him. He's done a great job for us especially covering in the halves, however with the Ellis/Seymour/Heremia signings, plus Houghton's contract extension, I see little point in keeping him.

You are wrong. Yes he may have another job but unless that job is paying him the same as or more than Hull FC he is entitled to a pay-off and he is getting one.

I like Wakefield and wish them well. You could do a lot worse than Dowes. Good servant and reliable. Time for him and FC to part company methinks though in light of the current change in ambition here.

Possibly, but if I was in a job paying, say, £100k, where I was unhappy and under pressure, and someone came along and offered to remove that pressure for £80k a year, I'd seriously consider it. There's a lot more to life than money.

Would let Obst go, done a good job for us this season since we had no back up in the halves for Long and Horne. Doubt he'll be needed next season with Horne, Seymour and Ellis, plus we now know that Westerman is more than capable there now.

But just say that you were approached by Wakey with a good offer and felt that your number was up where you were presently coaching and the chop was coming sooner or later, (and you'd been offered a 3 year contreact) and so you asked for permission from your club to talk to them?

What if that co-incided with your clubs new owner deciding it was time for a change anyway, and they had with the help of an old employee and without your knowledge, been looking for and even approaching possible new coaches, one of whom had even been over here to talk and have a look for themselves?

Or what if you only had a year of your current contract to run and were offered a 3 year contract elsewhere?

I'd be surprised if there was any compensation coming from the club
