It's a start. Better than the simple plays executed poorly that have become the norm.

I think Turner is a good athlete but not particularly skillful or creative, he may improve given time but I just cant see it. It's why I was a little dissapointed that Long wasn't taking charge more, particularly towards the end of sets, and allowing Turner to put kicks in etc.

That's because Long's kicking game has been sh[ui[/ut for about 3 years now.

It's hit and miss I agree but even his worst kicks tend to be better than most kicks Turner comes up with and as the senior player he should be dictating things.

Not sure about that tbh, even last year when he played it was Tansey that did most kicking. It's a reason i'm glad we've got Phelps and Obst.

Despite playing 10 less games than Tansey he put in exactly the same number of kicks last season.

I meant when in position to score, not necessarily kicking for territory.

They also put in the same number of attacking kicks. Tansey probably did most of his in the 10 games when Long wasn't playing.

Well i thought Turner played well at 6 on Sunday. Best i've seen him play there. Yes he gave a couple of murder balls and yes he ran Yeamo out of space a little bit (which leads to the murder balls) but that will come. We looked fairly lively when he had his hands on the ball. I wouldnt rush Horne back on the evidence of Sunday.

It'll be interesting to see him against Leeds on Friday wherever he plays as his two worst games of 2010 were against Leeds especially at their place. I think he's lacking in confidence and the better the opposition/bigger the reputation the more difficult he finds it. He'll only get mentally tougher I guess if he plays though.

Agree with that, he looked quite good running off Longy.

Me too, hope Longy has another good game this Friday and he has more runners off his scoots across the line. Him and Fitz work together well, scored a few tried between them last year.

Agreed he takes the line on well,he'll hopefully do better on friday as leeds like to move up quicker,also even long said in hdm that he enjoyin linkin with turner as he takes the line on.

I thought he started very well but faded when the going got tough.

I think Turner's main problem this season will be keeping a regular position, especially with the arrival of Obst who can cover in the halves and Phelps who will go to full back which will probably mean Whiting dislodging Turner from the centres. I can only see him getting in the team when someone is injured and can't see him getting on the bench much as we usually load the bench with forwards.

At least our squad depth seems less of a worry now.

I know, I know. I just meant that we complain that our squad is light, and then we complain that we aren't giving our younger players a chance! Mind boggles!

Are you kidding me? He's just recently turned 22 and nearly played 100 SL games already! He showed really good signs on Sunday IMO, and I for one took some convicing that he could play SO at all. I still see him as a centre in the future, but maybe like a Pryce role and follow his footsteps.

karl pryce? I don't think we should compare him with leon pryce who I think is an excellent stand off, turner is nowhere near that quality, and personally I don't think he ever will be, I'd be more inclined to put him in the centres he has done ok at 6 nothing special though.

As I say, I see him as a centre, but when did Leon switch to SO? Whatever the case, he do ok for me on Sunday and I hope he keeps up his progression until Horney is back.
