well said Easty, i think next year just to have those two fit for a lump of the season together will seem like having two new players on the rosta anyway , what ever the numpties say SL is still one of the best SH in SL when fit and when on form possibly still the best , i agree with the worries about RH but i also think he has been unlucky too in many respects and will have a point to prove next year between them....
It makes perfect sense to get a cover half with a different view on the game so he may bring even more to our party with new ideas and methods which can only be good for us cant it!!!

We have a sapce at last minute, do we leave it empty or use it for a year with some halfback cover. Either way it won't affect any longer term plans we have for 2012.

What would you do?

Use it on halfback if we dont get the fev lad or maybe a creative Loose forward who can step into halfback should and injury occur to SL or RH?

If we have a quota and theres a player available to improve the team even if it is for a year then its worth it imho.

I wouldn't have any objections to us bringing in a ozzie half back for a year even if he is shiite, however if we sign him for 2 it leaves us with prolems for 2012 IMO when we have some cash to spend and don't need another squad player taking up a quota spot

If he has a wow factor then he won't be available at the price we can afford will he? I'd rather bide our time and get teh right player. Better to have an open quota spot for 2012 IMO than sign an average player. We need to get better at dishing out our quota slots as we don't get the value we should

I can't recall a team who have brought in a 6 or 7 recently and they have been firing on all cylinders from the off.

I'm sure there are a few but most teams bring them through over many years or start off with a promising project. Would bringing one in for a year do us any good? Top 7's now have been at it for a while with their clubs.. Leuluai, Burrow, Dobson and some are projects still on a learning curve, Myler, Eastmond, Tompkins.

The 3rd alternative is the Orford route paying the money for the finished article, but having to get through the settling in period which may or may not pay off.... this option, in my opinion, is the worst of the three and the one we seem to be following now.

The key is knowing when you need to start the "grooming" (for want of a better word!) process while currently in the "settled half backs" stage.

A Quota spot should be a Marquee signing, not a sign and hope for the best.

For me we don't use it and plan for a solid 2012 signing Or possibly use the money to pick up an up and coming British player. Just like Warrington & Salford have ( I cannot believe I'm jealous of Salford).

i would actually wait to see who the ''alleged'' player is,before making any comment.if it were a young half-back from aus,what's to say he wont be a tremendous find?
